• Achievement boosting servers- Badass or just.. Bad?

Well, the other day, my friend ended up dragging me into one of those "fun" Achievement boosting servers, and I admit, I was getting a few achievements that I really hated (the 10000 double jumps w/ scout, etc.) Even though this is off topic, I just wanted to say this. This fag had some sort of grudge against me because I killed him for killing me, so he followed me EVERYWHERE and attempted to kill me no matter what. Anyway, back about whether or not these types of servers are really "Fun" or not. What are your guys' opinions on them?
Bad. Just play for your achievements. It's lame to join a server to JUST get achievements.
I've gone onto achievement servers to help my friends, but when I farm them it's normally with my friends as a group thing.
Yep. So much fun to randomly kill raging 13 year olds.
i just mess around on them and maybe hit a few when im bored and then sometimes i get achievements by accident
achievement unlocker
There is absolutely no point. Achievements are there so that you have something to work toward and look forward to while you play regularly. To one-off all of them very easily will make the game more boring for you later down the line since you'll have nothing to work for anymore. There's hats now, yeah, but that's not performance-based. Besides, we have the Steam Achievement Manager now. Rather than screw over your stats on a modded server, just tell the manager to give you all the achievements.
Only to annoy little kids.
Only to troll. I farm achievements with my friends on regular maps when new achievements/unlockables come out.
If you're going to farm achievements, you may as well get an achievement unlocker.
achievement unlocker
this is not warez stop reporting it for it you Political Gamer and john_frohman you idiots
unlock milestones only, receive weapons and still continue achievingh
this is not warez stop reporting it for it you Political Gamer and john_frohman you idiots
Ahahaha, that's great. I always did wonder if the reporter's name was attached to those reports. Some day I'll know all you mods' secrets. :argh:

I dislike them. If my friends and I want to farm achievements we'll set up our private server. Plus, since the weapons are circulated in the drop system now, doing achievements for the weapons would be pretty pointless.
I went to that kind of server once just to get archievements weapons and make some annoying archievements but not to get all of them. Anyway I did it once.
Its just pointless to go inside, troll helmet on or not. Its better to grief actual gameplay servers that dont have votekick/ban

I don't see the point. When I get my achievements I'd actually like to earn them, and besides, you can just find or craft unlocks anyway, so there's no hurry.
I got most of mine through grinding. I only gotten a few from farms.
Keeps those leeches out of the normal servers. It's also extremely easy trolling material, something I happily abuse.
I played on that training ramp with all the bots after the war update to get the demoman unlocks, simply because most of the achievements needed the eyelander, which I didn't have. I don't give a shit if they're meant to be a challenge, I just wanted to play with the new toys, which is more important than that silly 'oh i got an achievement!" feeling. I'll stop when I have enough mind, just enough to get me the milestones. Getting them just for the sake of getting them is silly though.
Meh, I'm neutral on them. If people want the weapons right away, that's fine. Most of them don't mean any significant advantage. Some people don't care about having achievements to unlock. They might just see the achievements as a means to unlock weapons (which really is the only substantial function they serve) so I don't think they should be forced into something that just looks like an obligation to them. I don't use achievement servers usually, but I've tried them in the past, back when you needed every medic achievement to unlock those new items that were very obviously upgrades. Honestly, using an achievement server takes as much work as earning the achievements legitimately, because achievement servers tend to be full of children and assholes who just do their own thing unlocking achievements for themselves and not helping anyone else do the same. It's pretty rare that an admin will be there to keep the griefers out as well, so there's really no "better" option.
I've only used them to get the weapons on the classes I REALLY wanted the weapons for, but I don't do it just for a chievements, I do it for certain weapons. Depends on your outlook though, it is better to earn the achievements then to cheat to get them, I will admit.
Seriously, achievement servers only look like cheating on paper. The assholes occupying literally every achievement server make it just as hard as doing it the normal way.
achievement unlocker
This. I unlock my achievements when new guns come out and relock them right after
