• Valve can eat a dick

PLEASE WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL CONGRESSMAN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AT robin@valvesoftware.com FEEL FREE TO QUOTE ME Most people will agree that the idler would not have been made if the item drop system wasn't a piece of shit. The piece of shit that was made by Valve. The item drop system where you can be rewarded for doing nothing, be it through an external program or joining spectator in a real server. Anyone can agree that the current idle drop system is unrewarding. You can be the best player on your team and get less than a guy doing nothing in spectator. It is not a reward system. It is a completely random drop system that does and means nothing. You can try to work hard and get your weapons through achievements, or you can just do nothing and get all of your weapons. The drop system is definitively shitty. No two ways about it. What was the community's response? Idle servers. Any time you refreshed your server browser you were very likely to see an 'idle' server listed. What do people do in this server? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And by doing nothing they get items. Is this the fault of the idlers? No. It is the fault of Valve for making a shitty 'reward' system because for some reason, achieving items through achievements isn't good enough for people who play TF2 'casually'. Obviously there were a lot of Idle servers and they were all very popular. They were also inconvenient. You had to keep your game on at all times, and in the event you crashed or the server went down, you had to join another one. All of this was fixed with the Idler program. Which did everything for you. Using the idler is no different than joining a TF2 server, except it uses less power from your computer, it's faster, and gives the community information they want to know about drop rates that, for some reason, Valve will not disclose. It's nothing but better than idle servers. Valve knew the idler has been around shortly after its release. Mostly, they just turned the other way. They weren't harming anyone, and they got what they wanted. And people who didn't idle did what they wanted. Both parties were happy. And the best part, the numerous idle servers were removed, making the server list much cleaner. With that in mind, even Valve should be happy for the idler. Idlers were happy, non idlers were happy, and Valve was happy because of the clean server list. Well for some reason they changed their minds. Now anyone who's used the idler is getting all their shit removed and the Idler is prohibited. Let me drop some pros and cons of the Idler for you PROS: No idle servers on the server list People who idle get items they want People who don't want to idle don't have to and can stay happy Community learns more about the mysterious item drop system SourceOP gets more attention Valve realizes the error of their ways (potentially) CONS: Valve doesn't like you (even though it makes things better for them) There is absolutely no reason to stop idler usage. It does nothing but good and helps Valve and helps the community. It is NO DIFFERENT FROM JOINING AN IDLE SERVER WITH THE GAME RUNNING! HEY VALVE! REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT PIRACY AND PROVIDING GOOD SERVICES? THE SAME APPLIES TO HATS! If you make a shitty hat dropping system then people are going to find ways to make it easier so they don't have to go through shit to get things they want. This is no different than piracy (except idling is legal) Valve should take time to think about how the Idler is their fault. If the drop system was built around rewarding players for doing good instead of randomly giving out shit to anyone for any reason for any class, then maybe people wouldn't be idling in the first place. Let's say your mom cooked you some fried PIECE OF SHIT for dinner and told you and your brother to eat it. You think that's a stupid idea so you pull out some much easier to eat and digest food items while your brother eats the PIECE OF SHIT like his mom told him to. Your mom sees you're not eating the shit and tells you to spit it back out and let your brother eat it because he ate the PIECE OF SHIT like she told him to. That's exactly what's happening with the items. If you eat the piece of shit and deal with the shitty drop system, you have to eat a piece of shit and potentially get nothing. If you're the smart guy and decide to not eat the piece of shit and do something better for you and your computer, all the stuff you got for it is going to your dumb brother in the form of a halo and you get no food. :siren:THE IDLER AND ITS USAGE IS VALVES OWN FAULT:siren: They're the ones that decided to make a shitty unrewarding drop system. They're the ones that decided the idler was cheating when it's not. It's all Valve's fault. And what's the worst part? People will still use idle servers. Because of this Idle servers will return and clog the tubes. VALVE CAN EAT A DICK THREAD FAQ!
But Evil Toaster! The Idler IS cheating! They even said so!
It's only cheating because they said so. In reality, the idler does nothing someone without the idler could do. It only does it faster and easier. If the Idler is cheating, so are idle servers. So is spectator mode. So is playing the game. Items drop the same either way. Why is the Idler cheating when playing the game on a real server isn't? You get the same stuff at the same rates right? Like I said above, the Idler helps Valve too.
LOL I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HATS LIKE OH MY GOD YOU GOTTA BE SOME KIND OF YOUR STUPID LOL I DONT EVEN SERIOUSLY
This is called a troll post. Do not feed them
Did yooooou idle Evil Toaster?
Yes, and I lost all my shit http://www.tf2items.com/profiles/76561197984566866 (Still got my medal :smugdog:) That is all for my hate towards Valve. You are no longer my favorite game company (I'm going back to Capcom for making Okamiden) If you want to redeem yourselves, then shelf this dumb drop system and make something that isn't shitty. You don't even have to give back my stuff. Until then you can eat my penis.
How do you still have your medal, mines gone ):
(i idled and i'm okay with it.)
Ahahhahahha, hahahahhaha hhahahahahaahahaa ohhhh. wow.
How do you still have your medal, mines gone ):
I sure didn't get it through idling. Don't know how you got yours removed. Maybe they gave out the medal while you were idling or something.
Oh stop crying. Don't start some boycott shit either, I'm tired of you kiddies whining. The only reason Valve has a problem with this is because it TRICKS steam into thinking TF2 is running, which, by definition, is exploitation. Even before the idler, the EULA said that no external programs are allowed to be used to simulate or modify steam/steam game protocols and communications, which is EXACTLY what the idler is doing. You still gain an unfair advantage over other players as well, because not everyone has the idler.

the halos make you look like a religious idiot so please wear them so i can feel better shooting you
Ugh. They should've just changed the system entirely. I don't like the drop system either but I think idlers are impatient faggots who can't play fair. Play the game like it's meant to be played. That includes actually playing it.
(i idled and i'm okay with it.)
Story of my life.
How do you think I feel? Surely you wouldn't be pleased if you lost some good items even when you didn't idle. I'm going to be butthurt for awhile.
its your own fault quit complaining, they make the game, they make the rules
Cry somewhere else, You idled -> You deserve it.
its your own fault quit complaining, they make the game, they make the rules
I agree completely. What idlers are doing is cheating.
Plus the fact that idling is altogether just dumb. How about you just play the game and wait to get lucky?
Lost my ushkanka, not that big a deal.

Do you have to moan and bitch about everything Valve does. You were trying to fucking boycott L4D2 weren't you?
I like how some people think that this is massively super huge srs business. One paragraph would suffice, but writing a whole page about how Valve is the devil is a bit ridiculous. Also deal with it, nerd.
I don't play this game 24/7. I idled for a hat, because I wanted one. I got that hat, and a day later, it gets removed. Now, I have a 0.0005% of ever finding a hat again, because my TF2 hours clock minimal on the scales.
It's not like it's even a big loss at all, not to mention that the drop rate is increased. Really, you're better off now.
Also, no. I can play this game all day, and get shit. Everything is handed to you. You don't achieve anything. Wasn't that TF2's goal? Achieve stuff? Have your team work together to cap a point, cap the intel? That logic got thrown away, so valve just went with the flow, and gave you a system that gives it to you.
Lost all my hats... including Hatless Sniper and Fedora No big deal :suicide:
Do you have to moan and bitch about everything Valve does. You were trying to fucking boycott L4D2 weren't you?
I wouldn't be surprised
because my TF2 hours clock minimal on the scales.
That wouldn't be the case if you played properly :v:
Sometimes I wish unlocks where never implemented. TF2 was better off without them.
they are removing items without saying such software is against the rules, id love to file a class action against them.
Hello, my name is Valve, our TF2 community has completely ruined my life and everything revolving around it, now let's punish them for cheating through our system to get our precious, virtual hats.
I know it was fair and all, but this really wasn't cheating. We simpily left are game on at night or when we were away, and Valve suddenly, instead of saying all items from the idler will now be taken away, they take all our items away that we got before the warning was even announced. It's simpily not fair, we didn't know Valve felt this strict about the Idler.
Sometimes I wish the backburner was never implemented. TF2 was better off without it.
fix'd
they are removing items without saying such software is against the rules, id love to file a class action against them.
Do it, big man.
