Pretty simple question, when playing TF2 as an engineer have you ever actually seen your sentry run out of ammo in-game?
Yes
Yes. It still tries to shoot at stuff, it just makes clicking noises instead of actually firing bullets and rockets.
yeah
Nope.
I thought this would be a thread that joked about commercials with the line like Has your #### ever ####?
Yep.

Actually, the bullets usually run out before the rockets do, so it'll be several clicking noises and then a gorey explosion of someone who thought he was safe now :v:
Once, but only with bullets, not rockets.
In TFC they used to run out extremely fast :v:
No.
Nope.
Never.
No. I should try it sometime.
I've seen it happen before. It makes a clicking noise like an empty minigun.
Yes, but only to see what happens
A single time, the enemy decided to do a scout rush while i was running into spawn to get more metal for my dispenser on turbine. I was confused on how it killed all 8 of them and the intel fell outside the map.(it was right next to the little push cart in the corner protecting the vents)
Once, I wanted to watch it twitch. So I didn't top it up. Pathetic little thing, clicking away, looking sad. I hit it to teach it to be a man, it worked, and started killing again
Yeah, when Offensegineering and forgetting to reload it. It was all "CLICK CLICK CLICK" and I was all "OH SHIT SHIT SHIT"
...But I got a crit right then so it was all good in the end :)
I've seen ones out of ammo, and I've tested it myself to see what happens but apart from that I don't think so.
No, I'm a good engineer.
I once saw a guy stand behind a dispenser and he waited for it to waste all it's ammo trying to shoot trough it then he meleed it to death.
Yes, then a spy came and stabbed the damn thing while it kept clicking for ammo.
Yes, i wasn't watching my sentry (went to go grab a snack), my sentry took out an ubered soldier and medic (which is sad to be honest) but my sentry was just "click click click" when i came back, then a spy who thought he was safe walked in front of the sentry undisguised with the sapper in hand. Needless to say i slapped my sentry and you know what happened next.
I really think valve should lower the ammo a SG has, the feature seems completely useless. An unattended sentry will pretty much always die before it runs out of ammo.
I might just submit a feature request now :v
Yep.
Although it's never ran out of ammo in a serious game, only when I've just been messing around in servers.
Nope, I stay with my shit (:ninja: FACT: spies crawl out of the woodwork when you go battle engy and leave your shit out in the open. :ninja:) and give my sentries a few whacks with the wrench after the enemy's pushed back or I just hit the deck and hold down m1 during intense firefights that involve incoming rockets, stickies, ubers, and sappers. :derp:

Pretty much this.
Once, I wanted to see what would happen when I let it run out.
Click click click.
Twice.
Second time was for a Machinima that is now scrapped.
I've had it happen before. Once.
