So, the first week was a bit weird. Looks like valve gave us all a bit of rollover time to start with, so the figures were high. Now that most of us have cleared that out, lets look at the drop stats again.
I'll keep this quick since graphs are boring. If you want the full blown data intensive crazy thread, click here
### Week 2 ###
The first week of data with no rollover (mostly).

The important thing to note here is that the cap seems to be 6. So if we haven't rolled over any drops, we're likely to get around 6 drops for that week.
### Week 3 ###
The first week of data with no rollover (mostly).

Not much to really report here... the graph is quite identical to the previous week's. Again, this supports the idea of a cap right around 6 drops, if nothing was rolled over from the previous week.
Conclusions
It seems there are two caps: Daily, and weekly. Daily being ~8 and weekly being ~6 + rollover drops. We don't know what the limit is on rollover drops, but with the first week reporting 14 for many people, it'd be safe to assume at least one full week can roll over into the next one, likely a bit more.
Nice job on the stat tracking, that seems pretty definitive.
And from this data we can conclude that we're getting fuck all drops.
i'm getting shitloads of drops. Is good day to be casual gamer!

huh? I've gotten lots since the update.
6 drops per week? That's bullshit.
Eh, I've gotten at least 10 items each week since they updated the drop system.
6 per week cant be right
6 drops per week? That's bullshit.
yeah
you basically got to wait three months to craft anything
yeah

Three months if you're lucky.
And we all thought Valve's comment about 1h a day was very conservative, well, it was actually the limit :(
if you play an hour or so a day you're good.
Yeah, you're good, as in you're using the max.
And I play TF2 at least 2 hours a day.
Way to prevent idling Valve.
I still don't understand why people are so crazy about item drops. I'm just trying to get new guns, but noooo you want the useless hats (i admit most of them are cool, specially the trophy belt) and crafting and all that crap.
I get like 4-5 drops a day.

Post a link to your backpack.
Where do you get this data from?
Where do you get this data from?
SourceTools?

What about those of us who have all the unlocks we need? There is nothing else to want than hats. Now we can only craft 1 RANDOM hat per 3 months, at best.
I'm not desperate for hats as I already have 39 hats + 29 refined metals, but I feel it is unjust to others.
I do care about others getting easy access to hats, I only continued development of Source Tools for OTHERS

What the fuck. I've got like 1100 hours of tf2 and I got my 2nd hat yesterday.
What the fuck. I've got like 1100 hours of tf2 and I got my 2nd hat yesterday.
Did you look on his profile? He has 5846.8 hours so it's not really wtf.

Only craft one hat per 3 months, but how many hats do you have a chance of getting in those 90 hours?
Did you look on his profile? He has 5846.8 hours so it's not really wtf.
2 x ~5 isn't 39.
2 x ~5 isn't 39.
Yeah well, but he had much more chances to get hat.
what the fuck, 6 drops is bullshit.
good job valve
FUCKING GOOD JOB
i hope gabe has a heart attack

My main goal is to get the unlocks I'm missing.
But in the process I'll obviously get some dupes, and I might as well turn them into hats, crafting several unlocks into one unlock just seems like a waste.
3 drops per week can't be right, now can it? :saddowns:
I'd say there MUST be at least one drop per 2 hours. Can't Valve just understand this?
It's really 6 drops? What the fuck.
I play for 1h+ a day and get sod all.
The new drops just take the piss.
Casual players who enjoy the game one day of the week are fine.
But people like me who play very long hours at a time, especially on weekends, this is a terrible system for me.
Id like the change to be, ''3 drops a day on weekdays, 4 drops a day on weekends''.
