the folowing is all from my friend:

I have had TF2 for about a month now, and I've had no problems with it except some occasional crashes and errors (not related to the game itself).
But now I have a HUGE problem. After the newest update which fixed the engi multi-sentry bug, TF2 wouldn't start. It would just say "Your client needs to be updated to run this game"
AND cherry as top to confuse me even moar it says:
"Your Steam client is already up-to-date."
I have tried everything, I googled it first, but nobody seemed to have the same problem. Ever. With TF2 at least. Then I checked the integrity of the game cache, didn't work. Then I tried to check if there was any problem with the program itself or anything else file-related. Didn't find anything. Then I tried to look for a manual update. Didn't work, didn't find. Then I uninstalled the game by removing the local files. Did not work.

PS: The "Your client needs to be updated to run this game" error won't show up on a screen cap.
Thank you already. Sincierly, Garb
EDIT: Answer, please. I'm begging you. PLEASE

And now you, or your friend whatever, will only repeat this process to get it working again if it happens once more. That's the point of not deleting it, so if the problem recurs you can send in the file and Steam Support can look at it and try and figure out what's causing it.

That's what the recycle bin is for.

I see, that makes sense. I'll tell others to do this. I wasn't aware this was the done thing, I thought just deleting would be fine, but the sending to Steam is a good idea. Next time, I promise to tell them to only rename it and then send it to SteamSupport.

Oh my God somebody's actually listening this time.
But seriously, the entire reason I've been spamming this every time someone says to delete the file, is because I did a search on Steam's support site and got this page. So I've been trying to get people to actually read the damn page and realize that it's better to spend an extra 2 seconds renaming the file, than it is to delete it and possibly screw yourself later on down the line.
So... thanks for at least reading my post about it. Most people just assume I'm a grump or something and ignore me.
