What exactly does multithreaded processing do now? Will it make any difference if I turn it off?
It makes your game run more fluidly if you have a few programs open at once, which most people don't. It, however, can cause some nasty cache related errors.
I have a dual core and I'm not having any problems with this setting on.
It depends on the setup.
Doesn't multicore processing mean that it uses all the cores of your processor to run the game? I have an i7-860 and it automatically uses it and recommends it, haven't really tried without it, so I don't know if it really does much.
That is what it does, but it's very buggy on a lot of systems.
That is what it does, but it's very buggy on a lot of systems.
Like mine. I have a dual core but when I enable multicore processing it makes my TF2 laggier and it causes it to crash every two minutes. So I keep it off.
Wow, thanks for this, my TF2 has constantly been crashing and now I know why!
I have quadcore and I don't have any problems with multicore on. Hell. The game is even smoother.
Can we get some examples of what kind of crashes it causes? Once in a while, on map change or if randomly out of nowhere, my game crashes and it says it was a cache or buffer error. If that's what's causing it, I'll turn it off.
Randomly, out of nowhere. Usually while you're firing a gun that shoots hitscan rounds.
I usually crash when someone kills me, then it shows the %NEMESISNAME% and %PLAYERNAME% or something of who killed me, instead of their proper name :S and then! FREEZE! And crash!
I've had that happen before, but I verified my game cache and it didn't happen again.
I don't have it turned on and my game crashes the pc,any idea how to fix it? :(
Increase your paged pool size
