My friend has a 10-year old computer. Is there any way he could play?

I've heard about these low-graphic autoconfigs and stuff, but could he even start up the game with such an old computer?
Uh no, any computer that was made in 2000-2006 I'm very sure can not run any source games, he can however play Team Fortress Classic..
Or tell him to upgrade, that's the only solution really.

He couldn't even play it on something like this?:

Old 2003 computer could run Gary's mod fine along with portal and team fortress 2 (though that was before the updates).
Really? Oh well sorry but still it's better to upgrade.
Depends on the specs.

Holy fuck, that is awesome.
Ick, why would anyone want to play lego fortress two.
It's just awful

The closest I could come to telling you the specs to his computer is that he runs WoW on lowest settings at 20-40 fps. That's all I know.

That's Minecraft, not Team Fortress

Use this:

It's a low poly pack for tf2, giving pretty much all the player, guns and so on models a more team fortress classic look, but still keeping them looking like the tf2 players.

Oh that slaps me on the knee
I had a 2002 gateway and could run tf2 with dx8, lowest graphics and textures, with 800x600.
put -dxlevel 81 in launch options and turn his graphics down.
you may get 10fps, but that's the best you can do with a computer that old.

considering half-life 2 came out in 2004 all i have to say is what
My brother has a laptop from 2009, it can barley run TF2 with super low graphic settings.

that's because laptops usually underclock their own components, there are easily findable settings to get around that (and you shouldn't be on battery while gaming)
@OP: what matters most is the CPU, even a poor's man GPU can run Orange Box games. 9600GT + Quad core does the trick for me at 1920*1080 very high, and that's barely 500€ nowadays

You're joking right?

Night fp
TF2 requires a directx 8 compatible graphics card. The first ones that supported it were the Geforce 3 and Radeon 8500, but they came out in 2001. So if it really is 10 years old, it won't be able to play TF2.
