It's just not very cool looking.
It's not associated with anything cursed/supernatural/funny and it generally looks just weird, same reason I don't like the logos.
Flies can look pretty funny though, a shame they're a bit harder to notice than the other effects.
I don't think it's as noticeable.
Having srs flames in ur head is srs bsns.

You could also say Plasma Effects are shit. I guess it depends on the Class. Plasma is bad on Sniper Hats, and Confetti is cool on Scouts for example.
