• Quick question about hats

What is the amount of hours someone usually finds 1? Because I've only found 3 hats,(Football helmet, MIning light, Kabotou, I no longer have any of these due to crafting/idling purge) And I have 1900 of playtime, I would expect my hat count to be atleast 4 or 5. But I see people with 500 hours with hats up the ass. Am I just unlucky or is there something I am missing?
It's random.
If they haven't changed the drop system (or if these are incorrect) then you should get an item every 35-75 minutes. There's a weekly item cap though.
Hats and items are at random Think of it this way. You have 3 blue pills And 1 Red pill. The red pill stands for a hat, the blue pill stands for a gun. You can pick once every 35 minutes. Now increase the blue pill percent by 20 and you have the chances of getting a hat. Louis likes this idea.

Hat chance is a really bloody low number, closer to like 0.1% than to 25%.
Hat chance is a really bloody low number, closer to like 0.1% than to 25%.
3.something% actually
3.something% actually
I thought it was around 4.17. Edit: No, wait, you have about a 3.5714% chance of getting a hat every FOUR hours and SEVENTEEN minutes. That's where I got that from.

The proper metaphor for this would be to picture a many-sided die. Most of the sides are "weapon", an only a couple are "hat". The item server rolls this die at every drop interval.
I always thought it was impossible to code random.
I always thought it was impossible to code random.
x = Math.random()
Which is wrong. A hat drop can occur at any item drop. I guess I'm extremely unlucky as well then. I've played this game almost every day since the recent updates and I have gotten zero hats (excluding the gibus).
x = Math.random() Blame the Hats megathread, that's where I got the information from.
Even then it is not totally random, has something to do with time.
I always thought it was impossible to code random.
Its pseudo-random and it's good enough for a video game.
It's odd, because I've been getting doubles lately. [editline]07:46PM[/editline] By which I mean that there are two items on the "Item Found!" screen.
I only have the ghastly gibs :(
I always thought it was impossible to code random.
That's why people code "near-random". It's completely and utterly impossible to code perfect random.
That's why people code "near-random". It's completely and utterly impossible to code perfect random.
Or you could use something that is really random, like radiation.
Just a sec, I have to put my U-238 core into my PC before the game will calculate my shotgun spread.
Shotgun spread is just a maximum and minimum value in which the game randomizes, it doesn't take that long to process it all.
I've only found 1 hat. And I've had the game before hats were introduced. It's just luck.
I've only found lame 'bonk helm' and crafted a shitty 'killers kabuto' i do want towering pillar
Are you kidding? I was piss happy when I got my Kabuto. The bonk helm isn't lame at all, too. That's just a baaaad craft...
Or you could use something that is really random, like radiation.
There was a new system I read about that measures objects on the quantum scale. This somehow produces truly random results.
You lost the Kabuto due to the halocaust? Impossible, wasn't implemented yet.
I lost my kabotou to crafting.
Are you kidding? I was piss happy when I got my Kabuto. The bonk helm isn't lame at all, too. That's just a baaaad craft...
I'm a lame soldier and I rarely play scout. Also imho killer kabuto looks silly.
I would say about 100-200 hours per hat (old drop system). I got mine after about 200 hours, and a few friends got theirs after the 100 hour mark. One got a hat within his first 20 hours :/ Not sure about the new drop system, you are probably better off crafting your own hat.
Wear Kabuto, make only girl on server accidentally say. "I'm a girl I like things that stick up"
