---This Has Been Fixed!--- I've still got this problem, and I don't think I'd get anywhere unless I bribe you to help me. Every 20-30 seconds I get "Warning connection problem" at the top right of my screen and I disconnect. There must be something I've missed cause I've tried everything that I've found on google, steam support, etc. I had this problem with my old router, I got a new router and it worked PERFECTLY for around a month and then this problem started. I'm on O2 wireless, the router is Thomson TG587n v2. Things I've tried so you don't suggest them: Updated router Updated drivers Opened ports with Simple PortForward Unticked "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" Multimedia/Gaming environment is enabled No antivirus/ what-not is conflicting with steam Firewall is turned off I have no skins/ custom cfg I defragged/ verified my game Contacted steam support and they just linked me to their support page 5 days later... So the person with the solution will get 2 hats, this isn't up for negotiation. I have a few duplicate hats and 2 of them will be yours if you have a solution that works when I test it. Uninstall.
Contact your Internet administrator.
Uninstalling never hurts, that solves a bunch of my problems.
Contact your Internet administrator.
That would be me.
Try a defragment and verify the cache's integrity.
Reinstall Windows. :v:
Giving me your hats should fix the problem, Hats have been known to cause connection problems. (I'm a scientist, so you know i'm telling the truth!)
maybe it's overheated? have you tried just leaving it unplugged for say 30 minutes?
Is it just TF2? Does the problem persist after a complete reinstall?
That would be me.
I think he meant the provider. I've heard this router has problems with running games, you might also want to write a support ticket to the router manufacturer.

Unplugging your router and plugging it back in. Restore to a point where it worked. Some windows updates fuck over wireless things, you can uninstall the drivers you have for your wireless now, then re patch it. Not sure what else, does it do it as soon as you get in game?
After all that OP has tried, it ends up that his ethernet/network cable is loose.
Reset your router.
Your ISP probably "kicking" you for flood, that stuff happened to Left 4 Dead once, contact your ISP for details, also just to be sure you should disconnect internet cable from router and connect it to your computer directly, remember to take notes about your internet configuration (Ip if your ISP is not using DHCP(auto ip retrieval), VPN\PPPoE\L2TP or whatever your ISP offers you to connect to internet)
Get a new router.
also check if your cable is not damaged, because if it is you could just lost connection because cable was torn apart at some place
Also, once my Tf2 got so fucked the sound would only play earraping garble. I uninstalled, and it was awesome again.
I also had a router that stopped working after a month, so you might want to send back the router if it's on warranty and get a different model.
also check if your cable is not damaged, because if it is you could just lost connection because cable was torn apart at some place
I think he'd have connection issues in general in that case.
I think it's a little harsh to rate us dumb, we're trying to help.
I think it's a little harsh to rate us dumb, we're trying to help.
Exactly what I thought, sure we're all greedy bastards only in this for your hats, but we are trying to help.
I also had a router that stopped working after a month, so you might want to send back the router if it's on warranty and get a different model.
The exact same thing happened with my other router. But that lasted for much longer.
also check if your cable is not damaged, because if it is you could just lost connection because cable was torn apart at some place
It's not damaged, it's new.
My computer is too far away for me to connect it with ethernet, but I doubt this is the solution.
I think it's a little harsh to rate us dumb, we're trying to help.
I'm just fustrated that's all, very fustrated.
Does this happen only in Tf2? Post pc specs. It's a wireless router so there might be interference in the connection. What's the card that's receiving the connection in your pc?
I think he'd have connection issues in general in that case.
not quite, cable can be pulled out and the connection will be halted but recovered after cable being pulled in, even without VPN disconnecting. However it cable really damaged you will have pretty high ping, as connection being interrupted over and over.
http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=38891 Might be the same solution with tf2.
Contact your ISP. I had the same problem, different game. Contacted the game support, as I couldn't stay online for more than a minute, and they told me it was my internet blocking their connection. I rang up my ISP, they told me that the game was blocked for some odd reason, they just allowed a connection and the problem was solved.
My computer is too far away for me to connect it with ethernet, but I doubt this is the solution.
At least my ISP always says to check if it (internet) works without router. Also you should check servers you are using, try another servers. And check if nothing else is using internet, like torrents.
