I just downloaded some skins but i dont know where to find the model folder. Can someone tell me the folder name or something?
Erm. Models [editline]09:35AM[/editline] If it's not there you can create it.
Well i go into the models folder but theres only the models that i've been downloading to get into different servers.
Well put the mod in there. [editline]09:56AM[/editline] Likely a better ideas is, if there is a whole bunch of folders in the mod you downloaded just drop the whole lot of folders, materials, models, sounds, whatever into the tf folder. It'll do the replacing for you.
nah didn't work :/
What skin?
The textures you downloaded should be vtf files. These should go into the following file path: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\*your steam login*\team fortress 2\tf\materials\models Then place the skins in the pertaining folder. If it's a player model skin then it goes into player\items\*class*. If it's a weapon skin then you place it into the correlating folder. Also if there is a folder that the skin should be in but the folder is nonexistent then you can make the folder without any issues.

The goddam folder just contains alot of crap that i've downloaded from different servers and not the original skins.
No problem at all.
What skin?
The latest ubersaw by mister royzo Now in before all the idiotcalling and boxes, remember i never look in my folders otherwise since im often occupied by playing the game.
Dammit. The goddam folder just contains alot of crap that i've downloaded from different servers and not the original skins.
That's what it is supposed to contain. Let's get this straight: Source games use Game Cache Files (.gcf) to store their resources. They are located in Steam/steamapps/ Additionally, they have a separate folder for user settings and mods, Steam/steamapps/<game name>/ If there is a user-creted file in that folder the game uses that one, if not, it will load the default one from the GCF. Okay, maybe I confused you more. Sorry.
Just physically drop the materials and models folders into C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/<login>/team fortress 2/tf This'll do it. You gotta restart TF2 though.
You're probably looking in team fortress 2\tf\downloads. Don't. Drop the materials and models folder from the .rar archive into the steamapps\<your username>\team fortress 2\tf folder. If you have TF2 open, you'll have to restart the game. Custom skins will also not work on servers that have sv_pure set to 1 or 2, so to test your newly installed skins, I would suggest using the "Create Server" option in the main menu.
i got it working now. Thank you guys for all the help. you can lock the thread now :P
