I proudly announce the opening of a website I've been working for a while now, Source Item Market! Over the past two years I've seen countless people being scammed either to low referral counts, "going first", fake profiles, careless middleman picking and so on. So I've decided to fix this and Source Item Market is the result. So how does Source Item Market fix any of this? Simple, by working as an automated middleman for every single sale/purchase. All users are required to have the payment amount to cover their purchases, which is then held and delivered to the seller as soon as the buyer confirms the receival of the listed items. "So why should I trust this website?" This website is developed and ran by a single person, myself. I've been on the item sales business for almost two years now and I've racked well over 300 sales without ever having a single complaint. If you wish to see my feedback just click on the following URL: http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9947 I've tried my best to test extensively every single feature but I can't promise there won't be some "bugs" that still need fixing, so if you encounter any strange behavior or any errors please report them to my support account: http://steamcommunity.com/id/sourceitemmarket And of course, I'm always open to questions and suggestions so if there's anything you'd like to see changed or implemented feel free to leave your suggestions in this thread!
Bug number 1: I'm allowed to select untradable and ungiftable items to sell. Good work on this though, looks awesome. How are you going to prevent money laundering with this service and how would it be possible to actually take out money once you've sold your items?
Can I use this site to transfer items from my alt to my main?
Bug number 1: I'm allowed to select untradable and ungiftable items to sell. If there's enough demand to disable it I will though, I'm always open to suggestions. Thanks mate.
Can I use this site to transfer items from my alt to my main?
I don't understand your question. This is "items for cash" sales website, I don't see how it would help you do that.
Oh sorry, my mistake.
Oh sorry, my mistake.
Perfectly fine, I'm open to all type of questions, heh.
Awesome
Jesus christ people put up their unusuals for like 180 to bid and 250 to buy now (cheiftans challenge) and 400 DOLLARS for an unusual drill hat. What the fuck. [editline]28th August 2012[/editline] I like the idea though. I don't have anything to sell though.
Since the site uses PayPal, what measures are in place to prevent or fix chargebacks?
I'm only accepting fund charges from verified PayPal accounts, that's what I've been doing this past six months and haven't had a chargeback since even though I accept payments from literally anyone. You don't have to worry about that though since all the risk is on my end and not on the users.
Just sold a key, waiting on the paypal cash now. Overall nice site but you should also add the name of the buyer somewhere on the page as I wouldn't have known it was him unless he told me or I pressed the contact buyer button. Potential scammer method #1: Take advantage of the fact that names aren't shown to steal an item that someone just bought. Fix: display more buyer info on the page.
I like you. Good work.
I have some questions. Can I use this as a bank for my items? Also I would like to know if this sistem have a time limit.
Good. I've been wanting something like this.
Oh. This is really cool.
which is then held and delivered to the seller as soon as the buyer confirms the receival of the listed items.
And if they don't confirm?
Very nice site, I like it.
I have some questions. Can I use this as a bank for my items? Also I would like to know if this sistem have a time limit.
You don't store items on this site. The site stores money. I just got my money for my key onto my paypal a few hours ago. a faq would be nice I'll write up some quick points now: Q: Is this site like the warehouse? A: No. it's more like Ebay except with a middleman for money. Q: CAN I STORE MY ITEMS HERE? A: There's nowhere to store them, you trade them directly to your buyer. Q: How do I get/sell my items, who do I give them to? A: Usually the buyer will add you, there's also a "contact them" button on your listing to add them. You trade your item directly to them once they've bought it. Q: How do I get my money? A: You enter your paypal email and the site will send you your money. Q: How long does it take for the money to get to my paypal? A: I checked 3 hours after I asked for it, it was there. I assume it takes about 30 minutes to an hour to be sent? [editline]28th August 2012[/editline] Oh wow, I wrote all that up but there was already an about page: http://www.sourceitemmarket.com/about That pretty much explains everything, dunno why tangled didn't post it here.

You're going to end up losing a lot of money to chargebacks if you don't have some sort of screening process.
That's nice. Suppose I have to complete my bot middleman service soon then, eh?
And if they don't confirm?
In that case I'd have to contact both users and request Steam trade histories, the website also stores item histories though.
That's a pretty naive view to take when the ONLY requirement is a verified paypal. You're going to end up losing a lot of money to chargebacks if you don't have some sort of screening process.
I haven't had a single problem in the past six months with this "verified only" policy, and I sell items everyday to literally anyone as long as they're verified. But that's true, there's no 100% safe way of doing this and I do know I'm taking a risk but it's a risk I'm willing to take considering how the community needs a tool like this.
Have you considered possibly switching to another form of payment?
I'm open to suggestions.
I'm open to suggestions.
What I'm looking forward to is the value of items spiraling down because of the accesibility. Furthermore, something of a feature that stacks identical items like keys and crates would be nice. Last thing, you could do reverse-bids. Someone could put a price roof and the kind of items he wants, people could show him there items, desperatly trying to get a sale. Obviously there would be a check list of somekind for the buyer to not get spammed in his reverse-bid (there has got to be a term for that) with people trying to sell him total unwanted items.
Well, I can't wait to give this a shot... going to get back my Earbuds finally. I might even buy a Max head. And then delete it. Because Max heads are fucking lame.
Well, I can't wait to give this a shot... going to get back my Earbuds finally. I might even buy a Max head. And then delete it. Because Max heads are fucking lame.
No,instead you will give it to me so you wont ever see it again
Rest in peace in peace source item market, you had a good albeit short run. It'd be nice to know what exactly happened but I'm assuming that you lost money through chargebacks to some idiots who ruined everything.
Why was it shut down?
Well that was short lived..
What happened
This site was useful, why the sudden death?
This site was useful, why the sudden death?
Simply because only allowing verified accounts to trade means nothing against chargebacks. The middleman (site owner) lost money as result.
