I live in Argentina, so is speak in spanish, and my steam language is in spanish. I want to have TF2 language in english without having to change steam's language. It happen to me that the guns' name are in spanish and everyone calls them by their name in english, so there are weapons that I don't recognise.
So, it's there a way(like a launch option) to change TF2 language to english without changing Steam's language?
Try Right Clicking TF2, Properties, and then go to the Language Tab.
It's in english, but the interface of the game is in spanish
Hold on.
I may have a solution.

Ah.
Maybe not.
Try a -language english to tf2's launch options?
Perhaps you can swap some files around? Someone who knows more should definitely chime in.
I'm argentinian and I have the same problem
I have the voices in english but the text is in spanish, and the translations sucks

That's actually not a bad idea. It won't work on pure 2.
Just extract tf_english.txt to the right place and rename it tf_spanish.txt

Valve didn't bother getting Spanish voices.

Better than nothing, right?

The game does have a spanish option for the character audio, but most of the clips from updates (i.e. engie moving lines, bonk lines) are not brought into Spanish. You just have your basic command lines and most of the responses.
In regards to the problem, I'm sure you could change your in-game language to Spanish and keep your layout in English with the same principle as sound mods. Someone would just have to make one large pack of all the Spanish game sounds (which aren't as many as the English file since the ambient sounds and sound effects are unaffected) and you'd download them into your English TF2 file. It'd just be one big sound mod.

or deal with it
I don't think there is a way of changing the language in TF2 without changing it in the UI.
Yup, the spanish weps' names are horrible. :V
But well, there's not other way that changing the steam lenguage.

Ninja'd. :ninja:
Anyone found a solution?
If you'd like, I can try to whip up a soundpack from the Spanish version of the game for you. You'd have your English HUD and game display but soundpack would replace the English voice files with the Spanish ones. (Though, not all the english will be replaced. Some lines have never been recorded in spanish and will still be english).
Sound good?

How much does it bother you guys to change the interface to english? I'm an argentinian too, and everything on steam is full english for me.

Since the names suck so much I would really apreciate if you could give me some proper and more fitting name for all the weapons with "horrible" names.
and yes, I'm in the translation server, I can change 'em.
Oh god those are awful voice actors.
Sniper's one is alright (His domination lines sound as badass as the originals). But yeah, I prefer the original english voices.

I think the sniper's spanish voice actor is the same as Nick's, and I love Nick's voice.
But anyways, the main reason I stopped using spanish voices is because I hate to play 50% spanish 50% english, I like the heavy's voice :saddowns:

I only want the spanish subtitles in l4D2,I can still have them if I change the steam interface to english?
Yeah it's annoying for other games. Like, I'm Italian so I have steam set in Italian and all, and it's kind of annoying in TF2 to have the hats and weapons name in Italian since sometime they totally change the whole name and idea behind the weapon/hats (For example the Train cap is called "Engineer's cap", and pretty dumb things such as the gunslinger being the "wrist of steel"), but I like to have some other games such as Civilization 5 in my own language. Bleh, I deal with it and look at the names on tf2items at every update, but still.
