Had in idea on the FP server a while ago, and we discussed it: The idea was, Poison Arrows. I had a think about this, and developed the idea more in my head and came up with this: Wouldn't it be nice if the Sniper could have different types of arrows? and store them in a Quiver or something. You could have the standard ass arrows which do High damage and travel in an arc and take a while to charge, etc. Think of all the types of arrows you could have; [B]Fire arrows[/B] - Less initial damage, ignites enemies on impact. [B]Poision arrows[/B] - Alot less initial damage, target becomes poisoned and takes 1-2 dmg every second until death unless healed. [B]Explosive Arrows[/B] - Creates a small explosion on impact, low blast radius, high damage, longer charge for full power, cannot impale. ([I]I know you can get flaming arrows from a pyro but how many pyro's take the time to actually do it on purpose?[/I]) You could have an Arrow token and craft it with other weapons to get the Arrow Types for the huntsman, which would be selectable in the Loadout menu: Arrow Token + Flamethrower = [B]Fire arrows[/B] Arrow Token + Jarate = [B]Poison arrows[/B] Arrow Token + Rocket Launcher/Grenade Launcher = [B]Explosive arrows[/B] ([I]I'm not full sure on how to get the Arrow Token yet though, but you could have nicely decorated Quivers and that.[/I]) Feel free to discuss or add any ideas to the list, or complain about how dumb and OP it would be. Well would you like to contribute anything? Maybe some balancing tweaks or something, 'cause the way i see it the huntsman is underused, people would rather the shot was where they were aiming when they wanted it to be, and not have to determine where the player will be. A fully charged Headshot does 450 damage with the sniper rifle so why use the huntsman which is just a delayed sniper shot? I think the bleeding system could be a huge factor for the huntsman. Change the bleeding effects to only drain health while you are moving. Then, an unlockable for sniper could be serrated arrow, which will do somewhere around 35% less damage as the normal huntsman, but implement the bleeding feature.
These are pretty over the top, might as well throw in air blasting arrow.

How about a crippling arrow? Arrow token+Natascha. Six seconds of -40% speed on hit, arrows travel only 60% as far as normal arrows due to weight of that big ol' custom tooled cartridge.
I'd think the poison would be more like this: Poision arrows - Alot less initial damage, target becomes poisoned and takes 1-2 dmg every second until healed by medic or touching respawn locker. Arrow poison will stack form each arrow, 2~4~6~8 with 10 being max poison per second.
The Huntsman is fine, to be honest. If I wasn't incredibly tired, I could probably give several paragraphs as to why it's fine. Suffice it to say, we don't need gimmicky crap to add onto our arrows. Fire is enough, and poison/disease wasn't brought back from Team Fortress for a reason, as I recall. Fire allows us to deal extra damage to people we don't outright kill, often giving just enough extra damage to finish them off. It's also very easy to counter. Pyro, water, Medic, Sniper, med-kit... all of these can extinguish fire, - Medic doesn't technically extinguish it, but he greatly reduces the burn time on an actively healed target - whereas with poison you have to be healed, and only healed. There's no other way to be cured, and your body is apparently so incredibly shitty at defending itself, it can't eventually stave off minor poison. Eventually, you'd be immune to this crap. Eventually, of course, being like 10-15 seconds in TF2 time. This is simply a crappy gimmick that will add nothing interesting to the game, or the weapon.
I like the idea of the different types of arrows.. very creative, but im not sure about being able to store different arrows in the quiver. maybe the quiver could hold one type of arrow at a time. Rather than holding like a mixed variety.. awesome :)

But, after all, even if it's easy to kill someone in a crowded area, you still need to have some skill to kill a single, quick target that is alone running to your base.
It should be crit-a-cola instend of jarate to craft poison arrows.
I always used my huntsman as a support weapon, not something to get kills with.
The bad thing is this sounds like an upgrade in every single way. Poison huntsman + Jarate + Shiv = Lots of passive DPS for Sniper

Fire arrows only exist because multiple classes can extinguish fire, healing poison seems a bit shit. In tfc medigun gave out some kind of virus that dealt damage, valve didn't bring that forward to tf2.
Make the Sniper be able to load a second arrow onto the bow by turning the bow horizontal. It would be good for firing into groups :D
