Were you thinking, "I really like playing TF2, but I wish there was a King of the Hill map set in a Chinese cityscape"? Well, your oddly specific and scarily prescient dreams have come true! Introducing Kong King - TF2’s first city-themed map! - created in collaboration with Sleeping Dogs and community member Valentin Levillain, aka 3Dnj.
We’re a little disappointed that Valentin is spending all of his time making TF2 maps and not fulfilling his true destiny as a roguishly handsome super-villain, but it gives us a chance to finish our costumes for our inevitable battle atop a snowy mountain where we will fight for the love of Cassandra Prosciutto.
You may be able to capture her physical form with your hyper-advanced laser-traps, Levillain, but you will never capture…her heart!
Ooo first urban map there's been (to my knowledge), it's different, I'll give them that.
Valentin Levillian
Le villian.
Cheesy jokes ahoy.
I have to go play this shit.
Kinda wish they included some weapons, but a map's a map, I'm glad.
I'll just repost this here

What does the bus do?
Kinda wish they included some weapons, but a map's a map, I'm glad.
Pretty sure they did
What does the bus do?
Nothing. It's just an art-style object on the map.
This is by far the best KOTH map, it's visually incredible
What the hell does it say "Red Hotel" on a blue sign?
Nothing. It's just an art-style object on the map.
Makes me want someone to repurpose the map so the bus is a payload.
Oh god yes! I always wanted a map like this in TF2

Can't wait for it to work its way into SFM.

they did
The map gives me the hugest human revolution vibe
Was really good, played a round.
this is the most vibrant map ever next to sawmill and mountain
I had my doubts about the TF2's art style would be ruined with this map.
I was wrong. Very wrong.
To be honest, this map looks more cluttered than usual.
It's a good thing TF2's travelling to more countries when it comes to maps. Now you can wear those Asian styled hats and feel like you're part of the artstyle.

i want more snow maps
All this christmas shit, and not enough snowy maps to use them on
The map gives me the hugest human revolution vibe
This.
The problem is the spawns are very very easy to spawncamp.

That's a tendency of KOTH maps in general
That's a tendency of KOTH maps in general
This one left harvest and 2fort in second place.
Is way to easy to camp in kong king.

...it's a city
...it's a city
Doesn't change the fact that avoiding clutter is a basic level design principle, regardless of it being inevitable with the theme

how can you avoid the inevitable
that's a rhetorical question, before anyone replies

You can't and I never said they could. I don't think the map is too cluttered, but "it's a city" is not a valid argument.
Lots of detail =/= clutter
Unless the detail affects gameplay
