It's a well-established fact that every Halloween, all the ghosts, goblins, Draculas, bigfoots, Frankensteins and Area 51 aliens leave their house at the cemetery to scare humans. But what would happen if you snuck down to the cemetery before Halloween? You would die. Of scaredness? No! Of boredom. That's because between now and October 31st, all the monsters are busy having meetings (about terror) and conducting focus groups (to test all the latest scaring techniques). Oh no! What's that chupacabra doing lurking in the shadows? (Answer: Reading a spreadsheet about blood.)
Scariness doesn't just happen, people. It's serious business. That's why we're giving you until October 1st to fill the Steam Workshop with horrifying Halloween-themed cosmetic items.
If you're not an item-making sort of person, you can still keep busy. Why not visit the workshop and rate other people's Halloween-themed items? Rating terrifying items will also help you build up your resistance to being scared before we unleash this year's Scream Fortress update. Other tips: Pay people to jump out and yell "Boo" at you. Have somebody paint ghosts on their car and then try to hit you with it. If you know an ugly person, why not ask them to try scaring you? Every little bit helps.
Shouldn't it be called the "Scream Workshop"?
I hope they release that cauldron thing again. I'm one of those weird people who kept their stocking stuffer key all this time and I missed my chance to get the cauldron.
Collection so you can keep up with all the items for Night of the Living Update 2.

I'm expecting a Halloween-themed MvM map with zombie robots or something.
the hands remind me of the director's
And then they'll select the items that are submitted less than a month.

To me, one of the best things about Scream Fortress was the addition of the Horseless Headless Horsemann, how he interrupted a typical 12v12 match and laid waste to everything in his path. It became the teams' duty to dispatch this common enemy or they'd both be annihilated.
It's essentially doing what MvM advertised -- 2 teams working together against a common foe. The difference being that it's 1 powerful foe instead of a mass horde. Also the fact that it happens in the middle of what could be considered "normal" gameplay. It's a spur of the moment thing that was rather exciting to be a part of.
Monoculous doesn't stack up because he stops the game from progressing and does drive-by's of unfortunate players instead of the Horsemann who had a defined target and would chase him around on foot.
I'm hoping for another Horsemann-type boss. That is arguably the most favored boss of the 2 that we have, Zepheniah Mann doesn't count since he just passes through an area and goes "BOO!"

That would be awesome, provided it isn't simply a retexture of an already existing map.
Every top rated halloween themed item in the workshop is made by people who already have plenty of stuff in the game though, add one or two of those but try to give someone else a chance.
The workshop still hasent proven to me that an unknown creator with a highly rated item can get accepted.
I want the Baleful Beacon in the game. That and the flyswatter.

Something tells me this is Valve's way of letting us know they won't be accepting weapons...
Heck, I'd be happy with two Halloween themed re-skins, like last year.
This blog boat has me giddy. If this means what I think it means, Valve may be looking towards all the NoTLU content and give us a legit weapon-based Halloween update alongside much higher quality hats, even if they ony feature three user created weapons like Australian Christmas 2011.
Edit: Just saw they clarified they wanted cosmetics. Meh...

Reskins are the lowest-selling items in the entire store. They have no reason to add more outside of promotional items and what can be classed as "gimmicks."
Either that or valve has the weapons already.

Gee.
Wonder why.
Either that or valve has the weapons already.
Oh boy! Sharpened Volcano Fragment and *insert equally obscure melee weapon here* reskins, here we come! Of course, don't forget the weapons will not have crit glows, won't work in sets, will have broken team colors, and will be renamed by Valve to something really boring or bad.
So it's agreed that Spooky Joe is getting in?
So it's agreed that Spooky Joe is getting in?
I dunno about Spooky Joe, but I can just about guarentee you that the Cortex Command is getting in.
We got not one but TWO Pyro heads last year, and even since then we've gotten the Hazmat hat.
Valve seems to be rather fond of them.

None of those are ever getting in, they're all high quality items that look amazing
