I will be selling on paypal soon and of course I'm a bit nervous. I got about 8 buds worth of items and only plan to sell a small amount of keys per person unless they got really good rep. I haven't really used paypal before and I've read a lot of selling guides. But no one tells me exactly what happens. When someone gifts you the money, how do you know if there is a fee? Is it instant? How does it appear on your account? Is selling tf2 items really that easy? What if someone wants to pay in Euros or a foreign currency that is not US Dollars? How do you know if they actually gifted it to you? How do you know if the buyer is verified?
Any advice for a newbie about to sell his backpack? ANYTHING helps. I plan to start selling today!
Personal transfers are free, being paid incurs a 1.4% to 3.4% + £0.20 GBP fee.
your paypal page will display any recent transations, including payments from other people.

Alright. I also heard that people buying out of the US need to pay a fee too. I'm just worried about it all. I don't want to take forever checking if I got a transaction, and I'm deathly afraid of being charged back >_<
When someone gifts you money, you can click details to reveal whether they charged a fee or not. It will also tell you whether that PayPal account is within the US, and whether it is verified or not.
Sell your backpack to only people with good rep - and then double check their profiles to make sure the person you are talking to is not being impersonated. Also check their steamrep status.
Ultimately, no matter what you do, there is always a way for your buyer to chargeback. Much of TF2 trading is held in good will, and if you find someone with decent reputation (I'd say 5 or more pages), it's highly unlikely you will be scammed.
Here is what happens once someone sends you money.
1. You will receive an email to your PayPal account saying that someone has sent you money.
2. Your account balance in PayPal will rise immediately.
Please note that these things happen instantaneously. If he says he sent it and you see none of the above, he's a lying cunt.
However, it does take a few minutes (2-5 minutes) for the information to show up. This is the info saying on your PayPal page how much you have received, who sent the money, type of transaction, etc.
If you need more help, feel free to add me - I've been selling and buying TF2 items for over a year and am well acquainted with all manners of scams.
