I'm so very scared right now. So on August 28, 2012, I finally sold my four TF2 Unusuals (seen in this thread). http://forums.sourceop.com/threads/120982-XoG-Gaara-S-lt-DOUBLE-GOD-TIER-SPY-UNUSUALS-FINAL-CHANCE Finally sold it to this guy: http://forums.sourceop.com/members/27706-TRONLEGACY and today I found this thread: http://forums.sourceop.com/threads/125655-Tronlegacy-scruffy-scammer-pls-help!/page2 Picture of the trade: http://i.imgur.com/pFy05.png So now I'm like ;(. I'm a 17 year old Asian kid who has no source of income whatsoever. My father has been unemployed for fifteen years and my mom recently got rehired after a eight month hiatus. My family is poor as it is and I don't want to have to make my mom worry even more. When I logged on my paypal this afternoon and saw that my balance was at -$199.47 USD, my bright day instantly gloomed. Those hats were my prized possession and I had to force myself to sell them to start earning money for college. Now I need your help. I'm looking for a way to provide evidence for the dispute so that I can atleast keep the money. I only have one picture of the trade. But in the text box I made him put the following information: Subject: tf2 virtual items Note: : feb 23 1990. Steam Username: [spy] I hereby notify under provisions of Public Laws 104-208, also known as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, that any creditor(s) of Collection Agency that will lead of a chargeback dispute, will affect my Credit Score. Payment Instant If I end up losing the dispute, is it possible for me to still get my TF2 Hats back so I can sell them again to try to cover up the difference. I'd appreciate any advice that anybody has to offer whether or not if they have been through a dispute like this or not. Thank you -Will.
This isn't sourceop nor UTC or anything like that
I will be your white knight, fair maiden.
You can get you can get your hats back via steam support, but they will be duped. You will likely have to sell them for less.Find a higher-rep buyer, don't sell all to one person. If your family has money issues, don't try and make TF2 selling your job. Get off the computer, and find part time work. Much more reliable pay, and you won't be in the red. I'm sorry to hear this has happened, but we can't do much about it. I"ve been chargebacked before, and you will lose the claim unless you had buyer protection (not in the U.S).
You aren't going to pay for college with pixels. I know it sucks, but guess what, you run that risk when selling virtual items to people you have no idea who they are and lacking any real method of response
valve won't dupe your items, they would if they were traded from your account without your will, which is not this case
and that. valve has said multiple times that they don't care if you get chargebacked you take that risk so yeah. tf2 items is worse than wall street
I lost two unusuals of my own to a scammer. Whatever happens with the money you're unfortunately not getting the hats back. Steam support doesn't dupe scammed hats, only hacked ones.
What effects are those hats, will make it easier to find them.
Additional evidence if you didn't already know this by the way (will be useful for steamREP reports and such): you have a trade history in your steam backpack and you can screenshot it if you need to.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the advice. I plan on starting a part-time job soon to help support my family and to pay for college. Cashbacks is just one of the harsh realities I had to face and accept in my life eventually. Hope you have a great day/night and I'll update the thread when more stuff happens.
This is why you never trade him JUST the hats and get nothing item-wise in return. Even if it's just a scrap. You always ask for some kind of collateral. That way, if they do chargeback on you, you can have Valve reverse the trade because both of you put something up for trade. At least I think that's the case, as Valve won't reverse trades where items are only received by one side.
