They've got a higher poly-count than the normal models, making them more detailed and therefore more suited to the 'meet the' videos.

Thats in general at least. That is the whole reason they fuck up spectacularly in GMod, their flexes don't match any of the expected patterns on the posing tools.

I don't think HWM is something bad. It's fun if used correctly, it's not when used randumbly and without control. It's like everything else: if used badly and excessively it will suck.
