Petition to make colorblind mode better for people who literally can't see color - Games

Signed, as it also affects those of us who can see color just fine. Because if one guy on your team is playing badly, the entire team suffers. If we improve the colorblind mode so it actually works as advertised we allow a lot of players to start playing well.

I don't get it, how are they going to change the teams for colourblinds? Black vs white?

Black vs white?[/QUOTE] Change the red and blue hues to a colour that's easier to distinguish for colourblind people. the issue isn't the work around. it's the inclusion of it so colourblind players can play on any server/event with the aid they'd get from a modded texture pack.

Other (non-colorblind) players could exploit this and use it to their advantage. The black/white might work though.

Wanna know how simple it would be to make such a mode? Well, by simply extracting the Blue channel value into grayscale. You can more easily differ between team colors. BLU is white and RED is black. This shouldn't be hard to implement.

Someone mentioned an excellent idea of having white halos around your teammates and friendly buildings, just like with objectives (though they aren't visible through walls) This would dramatically increase anyone's ability to determine if someone is friend or foe even in a heated battle. Remember, in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, teams aren't color coded. Instead, teammates are indicated by an arrow above their heads, and enemies aren't, making the game infinitely more playable by the fully colorblind.

I am not completely colour blind, and can normally tell the difference between red and blue, except in the heat of battle I often confuse the two. I also have short term memory difficulties so I forget what team I'm on and think enemies are team mates, getting me killed, a indication of the enemy team would be nice as well.

Also remember that looking at an enemy doesn't reveal their name.

Hopefully this dude doesn't lose hope for this! They already have that crummy jarate-only version now, and Valve itself has discussed their work in making Half-Life 3 work for deaf players, so there's clearly an interest in this sort of thing. That said, maybe a petition isn't the way to go? I've never heard of one actually influencing a game or show. Maybe the attention generated by the request for signatures is enough to show it's an issue we care about enough to justify the time put into it. With any luck, some people have sent emails about it already.
