So yeah, really annoying Almost everytime I try to launch tf2, steam automatically pops a "verificating files", instantly goes to 100%, tells me they're verified, and then doesn't do anything, can't launch tf2. If I want to, I gotta go in properties, VERIFICATE, it takes about 5 minutes to verificate (really this time), and then, I find myself having to dl 500+ mb of crap I already have. I tried re installing tf2, steam, doesn't changes anything. I tried: Reinstall tf2 Reinstall steam Defrag tf2 Verificate tf2 -autoconfig some more things I can't remember
Verificate.
Defragumalate your cache, and stuff. Could be that the bitsers are all scrumbled and can't find itself very easily, thus downloadables the 500MB again and again. Checkerfy the Harddrive for fragumalation as well
I've put up a list of things I tried
By reinstalling, you mean uninstalling then reinstalling? try renaming the CLIENTREGISTRY.BLOB
Yeah, by re installing I mean completely taking it out of the computer and then installing it back from scratch.
Having the same issue, at least about it constantly verifying but not launching. Defragmenting now. [editline]12:22AM[/editline] Defrag did nothing, validating. [editline]12:28AM[/editline] Only 95 mb to download. Of note, it hasn't touched any of the gcfs (I think) - only hl2.exe and the bin folders. [editline]12:29AM[/editline] Launches fine this time but lost my launch options. I'll see if it still works without validating tomorrow. [editline]1:03PM[/editline] It's fine now.
