This isn't about us scamming people, this is about us being scammed. Most likely you have been at one point. I'll start it off.
A guy on arena_2fort trades me, and wants my Honcho's Headgear. He puts up a Tyrants Helm painted Pink, and I'm like "sure, that's fair".
It was a dirty tyrant's helmet. No amount of begging would make him give it back.
I lost 1.6 refined.
Not exactly a big deal, but sucks nonetheless.

Back when the Nessie's Nine Iron and Postal Pummeler wasn't in the drop system a friend of mine gave them to me for 2 rec (seeing as they weren't in the drop system, people valued them at like 1 ref or higher) and I gave it to someone for a Vintage Eyelander.

Reminds me when I tried to sell 2 buds for $40 when they were going for $20 each. Guy pulled the whole my paypal is messed up thing and I fell for it.

I asked on a server if anyone wanted a ten gallon for any other hat because I was going to craft it since I had 2 of them so this guy trades me a bald engi and I'm like okay. Then I go to craft and I find out it's uncraftable

It was some days after Portal 2 release. Me and my friend got 2 buds and a bill to buy it. Well, I was trading with someone, went first. Guy had rep thread on Source OP back then. So yeah, sure. We had an account for Portal 2 already to share it. Unfortunately, guy ran away with hats, and I was there all like "god fucking damnit."
I haven't talked to my friend for a long time after that, because I felt it was my fault. Also, there were 3 other offers. I checked all of those after and ALL of those were scams.
In the end we both got Portal 2 in our own ways, but still. I was pretty down after that.
I retardedly traded a genuine anger, a essentials accessories, genuine cowl, and a vintage sun on a stick for a Merc's pride.
I also traded one time all the way back when space chem items were out and I traded my buds for all of the items plus a professors pecualrity.

Lost a Scorching Bombing Run and a Hearts Rack a little after the first Xmas update. I didn't know how to check the legitimacy of a middleman (trading was still relatively new, and so was I). So, I lost my only 2 unusuals at the time, and quit for about 3 weeks.

Someone in a trade server said he was selling a Bill's Hat. I didn't have one at the time, so I invited him to trade. He asked what I had and I showed him my hats. He chose six, and I added them.
We both clicked Ready, but when the trade was accepted the Bills was gone. I don't know if he did some lightning-fast ninja shit or something, but it still pissed me off, losing six goddam hats.

Few days ago. My second hat trade ever. I wanted a craftable hat for my refined. A gut trades me, and because of my bad english expressions, we messed up the trade.
At the end I discover the hat is uncraftable. Damn greed. Man, I only wanted ANY CRAFTABLE hat, not like i´m asking for that much.

i lost my genuine maul for a damn haunted holy hunter.
I lost a hearts noh mercy and a lantern dr's dapper topper to an impersonator.
It was Suttles' "Love to troll" noh mercy.
At least when I told Suttles and showed him the impersonator's steam page he couldn't tell the difference either.

I don't know how the fuck I didn't give in to selling my max set and buds when trading came out, I guess I was really lucky or just wanted to keep my stuff. Oh well, a friend has them anyway now.
I should have sold the max for buds when they used to be a lot more expensive, then re-buy it now.
