1st tell me what kind of antivirus ya using. If ya use some then it keeps scanning one file which is somewhere on Steam folder.
i know about that and i have added it to exception list,it doesent work.
pentium 4? buy new..
this game is eating a lot cpu.
its not about cpu because before one month it was working properly
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
I aslo opened cpu cleaned everything(thought its was because of dust)but it also didnt work.
Of course it was, Valve rapes your rig more and more with each update. When I built mine a few months ago it ran TF2 at 120FPS, now it's barely 40 with chris' dx9frames.
so... what should i do??
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
does that mean i only have one option which is to upgrade pc.??

You could always try upgrading your RAM.
comeon,isn't 2 gb enough?
I run 2gb and I'm getting failures to allocate virtual space.
4gb should be fine for the next 100 hats.
Yeah, even with valves special unloading code, you still need to get more RAM to keep up that virtual space.

There are lots of common things you can do that can help. Virus scan, defragmentation, disable programs you don't use at startup...etc. That's the high quality config. I doubt it will boost your FPS, use this config instead: https://raw.github.com/cdown/tf2configs/master/maxframes
Remember to follow the installation instructions.
How to use these configs??????
How to use these configs??????
Installation
Download the config you want to use.
Save the config as autoexec.cfg in %PROGRAMFILES%/Steam/steamapps/%username%/team fortress 2/tf/cfg.
Go into Steam, right-click Team Fortress 2 and select Properties.
Select Set launch options...
Paste the launch options from the top of the config, replacing WIDTH and HEIGHT with their respective values.
Click OK, and then close the properties window.
Launch TF2, then quit.
Remove -dxlevel xx from the launch options.
