Just found a thread on the steam forums that teach you how to change your name color. http://frozencubes.com/gmg/color.html Copy and paste your name, and in-game you type : setinfo name "your name here" Author's thread on the steam forums http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=987368 *NOTICE* Only works on Voice and other SayText2 usermessages. In normal chat, your name will be completely white.
This is awesome, I'm gonna try this sometime.
All white name is pretty fun
Nice, I was just on a server and people thought I was an admin. Any code for Purple?
So, in console, all I have to write is: Setinfo name "Red Pan" Or am I doing something wrong because it never seems to work for me.
setinfo "xpod1" Like that or something..
setinfo "^6xpod^31" Or seomthing, not sure.
no, the ^numbers are for the generator to insert the ascii codes. it is "setinfo name "stringwebsitegenerateshere""
when i saw this thread, i thought it mean like actual "colored" peoples names.
no, the ^numbers are for the generator to insert the ascii codes. it is "setinfo name "stringwebsitegenerateshere""
Yeah I got that now, thanks for Quoting the original post you dick
i got it to be white, but how do i make colors?
when i saw this thread, i thought it mean like actual "colored" peoples names.
Haha... to do that, you will need this generator http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/9094/
Still isn't working. Setinfo name "Red Pan" doesn't work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? :/
I think you have to set your name to "^(whatever number you want for the colour you want)Red Pan" I don't know though. It's confusing.
I also tried Setinfo Name "^5red pan" and it didn't work. Oh well.
Still isn't working. Setinfo name "Red Pan" doesn't work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? :/
Try puting "Red Pan" in your steam friends name
No, it suddenly decided to work. It was weird.
The setinfo command is unable to comply with names with spaces in them, I'm sure.

I got my name to show up black by using the Item Color code. I just shoved the result into the normal steam settings dialog, no need to use the setinfo command.
Well that's interesting.
The setinfo command is unable to comply with names with spaces in them, I'm sure.
No, it worked with the space.
I'm still confused. Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to do?
Hey by the way, the special characters generated from this don't appear in Google Chrome. Use Firefox or IE to get the custom name.
Goddamn me and my Chrome usage.
Eh? Chrome 4 works properly for me, just can't see the symbols, but they're still there...
I'm still confused. Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to do?
Get your ingame name that you want to make colorful. Go into Team Fortress 2 and open up your console, type in "Setinfo name "Tizzy"" (Just an example). That should work. Atleast, that's how it worked for me.
Seems the black was just because it was a listen server, on a real server it showed up fine. Quite useful, I wonder what other codes are usable (there is more than 1 item type now)
I got my name to show up black by using the Item Color code. I just shoved the result into the normal steam settings dialog, no need to use the setinfo command.
Does it work on other games?
Cool, now I can disguise as Lotus' servers donor.
I used item text and it was black for some time but turned yellow then. Yellow catches the most attention from single colors because everyone keeps their eyes peeled for items.
