A recent update with TF2 is multi-core rendering. Can someone provide me with a screenshot or words of the graphics difference. I heard that it causes some nice lagging problems too...
No graphics difference. It just lets you use both cores in a CPU to boost performance. You may not have dual cores.
Does it fully utilize quad core yet? I'm getting tired of my Q6600 only being useful for flight simulator... :q:
Ahh cool thanks. I have a 96 computer and the only thing letting me play TF2 is my NIVIDIA GeForce 6400 Ultra. It still crashes sometimes.

Yes. It utilises every core of the CPU so if you're one of those lucky people that has a Core i7 you'll be able to run TF2 on all 8 cores.
It's still in beta, but Valve released it prematurely due to popular demand.
I hope that a better support comes soon with that big all-classes update.

96? As in, 1996?
Wait, I must be missing something.

Windows 98 is what the gangsters use.

FUCKING W-Nevermind.
Anyways, it just makes me lose fps so i dont use it.
It's too unstable

Nope thats right Its a 96 or 98 something like that.

*psst* i7 is Quad Core.
And even if it has Hyper Threading on...its still physically a Quad Core, but displayed and somewhat working like an octo-core.

4 cores
Yeah, it's still very much in beta. A side-effect of enabling it that I really hated was that screen-caps would be pure black. I had some hilarious kill-cam shots, dammit. >:C

it's been fixed
Has it? Oh well, doesn't bring my funny caps back. :C

But they'll always be with you, in your heart.

I get huge FPS boost (mainly in intense situations as firefights) and I do not crash more than before (every few hours), Pentium D (dualcore) here.
Intel Core 2 Quad here, Q9600
Which Source games is it available in, besides TF2?
L4d
Multi-core rendering slows down my framerate, making everything sluggish, but in a smooth way (if that makes sense). I keep it off.

i7 is a quad core with hyperthreading.
i7 is a quad core with hyperthreading.
Yes, 8 logical cores...
Yes, 8 logical cores...
But it's physically a quad core
But it's physically a quad core
Still, any PC or program picks up the logical amount, not the physical amount, that is the purpose of hyper threading, to add cores without adding them.
I herd u leik cpu's so we put a thread in your thread so that you can hyperthread.

So it's basically going in slow-mo.
Turned it on in L4D, and it's gotten better. FPS stays high even during zombie explosions or rushes.
