Sorry about the colossal length. And no, I do not care in the slightest about your megathread OCD. (Also OCD about rating every single post I make on this thread as dumb. I can see you're all the same people who aren't even taking part in the conversation.) Only one person has posted anything relevant to the OP so far. The Illusionist's Tricks Set: The Fool's Forgery The Reality Cutter The Refraction Shard Set Bonus: +20% Speed -25 Health The Fool's Forgery Level 2 Invisi-Watch Instant cloak activation No evidence of cloaking Creates a fake clone Cannot be touched or hit for 1.5 seconds after cloaking -3s cloak duration Clone cloaks then deletes on uncloak Clone is created with identical variables to the Spy at time of cloaking, so in the same part of its animation, facing in the same direction, etc, so it is impossible to tell the exact moment when the Spy is replaced with a clone. The orientation of the Spy is reversed as soon as the bot is created. The clone is a bot using the mimic behaviour, which duplicates the keypresses and mouse movements the player uses to the bot, which has the same key bindings. So if the cloaked Spy jumps, the bot jumps. If the Spy runs, the bot runs. (Though always in the opposite direction, due to the orientation reversal and copying of mouse movements) If the spy attempts to fire or melee while cloaked, the bot will actually fire or melee, though cannot hit. It can be used while carrying intelligence, though the intel would go to the clone, and be dropped when the clone vanishes. Clone death is identical to dying with DR. A spy being chased using this item could do a very convincing escape by cloaking, turning around and walking backwards, holding M1 while holding revolver, and escaping to a safe place. The appearance is that the Spy turns around to face his pursuer, attempts to shoot them, misses all the shots, and gets owned. The reality is that the Spy is in a completely different place. Bots cannot be seen by people on the same team. Simplified, this is pretty much a DR, except it takes skill to use. Like DR, it would open, but sideways, and it has a DR like display on each exposed panel, the one in your hand blue, showing cloak time, and the other display red, showing clone health. The Reality Cutter Level 15 Knife Completely silent death, no sound or notification Creates a temporary fake of victim Disguise not lost on successful backstab -50% Backstab Hit Area Like the Fool's Forgery, it creates a tf_bot seamlessly, and so there is no way to tell when the victim was backstabbed, as the Spy keeps their disguise, no corpse is dropped, and there is no notification or sound. The bot cannot hit or be hit, lasts for 20 seconds, and behaves as if the keys at time of players death were still being presses. So if a Heavy was M1+Wing forwards, upon backstab they would appear to continue doing so. Bots cannot be seen by people on the same team as the Spy. The Refraction Shard Level 2 Sapper Disguises nearby(512HUradius) enemies as yourself while on a sapped building Creates illusions of those disguised enemies, this effect stacks with other shards Only 2 carried at once This can replace the models of enemies, as percieved by other enemies but not to your team or the enemy in question, with a projection of yourself exactly as you would appear to them if you were standing in place of the enemy. However, the direction they face is the point you are looking at. If you are using Fool's Forgery or Dead Ringer, the real spy is completely ignored in all calculations mentioned here and the fake is used in its place. For every person in the effect of this weapon including the spy, there is a mirroring of that person, whose position and orientation is their position and orientation rotated 180' in around the observer. If they are within range of 2 shards, there are two illusions rotated 120' in both directions around the observer. In the very rare event that this effect stacks massively, there are a maximum of 11 illusions for every real person, and a total maximum of 33 illusions. This item projects everything of your appearance onto an enemy other than position and orientation which is instead the point you are facing at, meaning you can have some fun by facing towards an Engineer who you are sapping the sentry and dispenser of in a very open area, and facing towards them holding the ambassador. They're very confused, as rather than seeing a disguised spy and their pocket pyro, they see 6 spies all aiming a headshot at them. A pro could get of of this situation however. They run around in a circle, and see which 2 of the 6 spies don't move with them, and that narrows who is the spy down to only two people. They kill the spy with their shotgun, and... Get backstabbed without the pyro even knowing. Bloodeh Tricks Set. Though this set is compensated by the lack of crutchy, incredibly OP moves such as lucky/nonsensical backstabs and spamsapping, and the disorienting, short duration cloak potentially alerting others of your location due to your obvious clone wandering off. BTW if this gets 3 pages of replies I'll do a mockup in Blender. (User was banned for this post ("Missed the megathread (on purpose)" - Orkel))
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250554 We have a thread for this.
I may have put the stat list first, but there's a paragraph of core concept on each weapon.
Knife and watch seem like the YER and the Dead Ringer buffed to the nth degree.
I may have put the stat list first, but there's a paragraph of core concept on each weapon.
Still not the point, we have a thread for this, use the thread instead of making a new one.
Still not the point, we have a thread for this, use the thread instead of making a new one.
Why? There's no advantage for anyone putting it there. Unless VALVe devs frequent such threads. Do they?
New threads are popping up everyday now...
Why? There's no advantage for anyone putting it there. Unless VALVe devs frequent such threads. Do they?
Here at Facepunch, we don't like clutter. Unlike sites such as SPUF or Reddit, we prefer a few large-overall threads. Welcome, and enjoy your stay.
Here at Facepunch, we don't like clutter. Unlike sites such as SPUF or Reddit, we prefer a few large-overall threads. Welcome, and enjoy your stay.
the recent reduction of max thread length by 90% only serves to prove your point
Here at Facepunch, we don't like clutter. Unlike sites such as SPUF or Reddit, we prefer a few large-overall threads. Welcome, and enjoy your stay.
That system has advantage/disadvantage based on location of your post in the thread. It means that frequency of viewing of a page depends on page number and how close to the top/bottom your thread is. Pages 1, 2, 10, 11, 20, 21, 30, 31 will be viewed significantly more often than all other pages, with the first idea suggestion posted on the thread getting way more views, because somebody wrote it quickly enough to get it as first post. Even sillier than the system of getting bumped every time somebody complains at your thread. Traditional forum architecture FTW.
I may have put the stat list first, but there's a paragraph of core concept on each weapon.
that doesn't make your suggestion important enough to warrant its own thread
that doesn't make your suggestion important enough to warrant its own thread
On any other forum it would be far more than enough. Paticularly if I'm doing mockup 3D renders if this shows enough support.
On any other forum it would be far more than enough. Paticularly if I'm doing mockup 3D renders if this shows enough support.
...in which case you would go to the Emporium. Facepunch deliberately tries to avoid small threads like this and makes larger threads instead. Read the forum rules. Some forums work well with traditional forum architecture, others do not or choose to avoid it even if it does not do any harm.
Your first mistake was the inclusion of a Set Bonus
The second was thinking facepunch has control over weapon stats.
Let's get this to 3rd page guys, I want to see his mockup
I may have put the stat list first, but there's a paragraph of core concept on each weapon.
If you'd cared to take a look in the weapon ideas thread, you'd have noticed that a lot of us do back up our stats with paragraphs of reasoning. And that some people pair their ideas with concept art or weapon models. There's really nothing that sets this OP apart from the posts in that thread. Making your own thread is pointless and self-indulgent. As for the set: Set bonuses are a no-no. The watch has been suggested a whole lot of times before. The knife's reduced backstab area is a neat idea (which I played around with a while ago, incidentally), but I don't see how it synergizes with the rest of the knife's stats. The sapper is creative but very poorly thought-through: The kind of 'who is the real spy' minigame situation you're imagine doesn't happen in actual, hectic gameplay: the main effect of the weapon would probably be that the affected enemies suddenly don't know what classes their teammates are playing or where they're facing, which would just be a pain in the ass teamwork-wise.
