I have recorded a demo of me playing TF2 for my favorite server, which is making a collaborative video made of footage from its community.
I really want to contribute, but I have no idea where to get started. If anyone could help me, I would be eternally grateful...

I registered but never received the activation code
:geno:
also. use DivX codec if your using source recorder
If Source recorder is too complicated, use Xfire or Fraps.
also. use DivX codec if your using source recorder
no
it's lossy
and thus not suited for editing purposes
use a lossless codec instead, such as UTVCS: http://umezawa.dyndns.info/archive/utvideo/
but anyway if you can handle it just use Fraps

Where is source recorder located? Does it come with VALVe games, or is there a Dropbox somewhere on the internet?

This guide is simple and useful.

If you want to combine some gameplay use vegas or windows movie maker.

Pahahahaha
:saddowns:
Don't worry its built in all source games. Use the guide above.
source recorder is hands down the best method of recording tf2 stuff, plus you can slow it down and keep the same framerate, whereas if you slow it down in a video editing program, the framerate decreases

I made this video with it and I think my work is pretty cool

So wait, you just type in startmovie_title.avi when viewing a demo?
If so,
EDIT:
Sir Tristan, yor videow maide meh 10x smrter adn bettur at spie

Your codec should be the Xvid one.
[editline]03:19AM[/editline]
Host_framerate 30;startmovie NAMEHERE avi, choose Xvid codec, playdemo DEMONAMEHERE.

Problem, I tried Source recorder and it just gave a shitload of TGA's. What did I do wrong?
[editline]03:39AM[/editline]
I tried Source recorder and nothing but TGA's came out, no AVI's.

Did you put startmovie moviename avi with spaces in between? Also use the Xvid recorder I believe.
But you can use VirtualDub to string together the vga's.
EDIT:
Turns out that pldx shit is locked to only run on tf2. Blah.
Nevermind, I got it working, I didn't put space like you said.
It's here if you guys want to see it...

Did you record a demo?
if so, how do you convert the Dem. file into Avi or stuff?
If you didn't, what did u use?
Oh it didn't seem like nom x 3 without all the custom skins and stuff. I get lag there, is there an eastern US server?
not sure, all I know is that they have 2 other servers with less framerate problems and content...

I did record a demo, I just used the built in source recorder to film the demo I recorded earlier. I used the console to begin filming and it asked me to use a codec. I used a Divx codec to compress the frames of footage automatically. And then I edited in Windows movie Maker.
:science:
