• Bad Luck With TF2

It seems when TF2 gets an update, my TF2 preforms even worse until I validate the files. But I thought Validating was to retrieve missing files. Anyway, I got this computer this year, not long ago. High spec. 4gig, duel core, 5700 series. In game, it has major lag, Connection problems, missing sounds, and sometimes the death cam view stays up for ages. It was fine at Halloween and after, but started doing it again. 3rd time this has been happening. My net connection is crap, but I get pings around 80-150 even when it is lagging. The connection problems are probably my fault but the 1.5 gigs of stuff to download after validating seems a little extreme.
I have no eyes. I thought it had something to do with my graphics card. Did a fresh install of Windows 7 and Team Fortress 2 and even bought a new graphics card; Still have the problem, though :(. Also I live in California, but West Coast servers give me around 200+ ping rather than the usual 70.
It's been like that for me ever since the War! update. Lag spikes for no reason, game lock-ups, graphics driver crashes, low FPS despite having a dual-core 2.8GHz Athlon CPU and a GTX285. There's no excuse for that considering I used to run it cranked at maximum on a 7950GT with the same CPU and no issues.
You need at least 1 gig of video memory and a decent to high end multicore processor for this game to run smoothly these days.

I just get CPU bottlenecked whenever I play in a 32 player server. My solution is to not play in those and get constant 120 FPS. Its also much more fun since thats the player count the game was balanced for.
You need at least 1 gig of video memory and a decent to high end multicore processor for this game to run smoothly these days.
1GB GTX285, 2.8GHz dual-core FX-62 Athlon CPU, 4GB DDR2 RAM.

Valve needs to optimize the fucking thing.
see i thought tf2 had issues with multithreading so when i upgraded to my intel i7 920 i was a bit worried. That being said i was able to run it perfectly fine on a really gold nvidia 6600 series with a 3.2 single core just after the heavy update.
I get shitloads of blank white textures after Mannconomy. All over Sasha, parts of weapons, maps, props.. it's painful. Thankfully the only one the Iron Curtain gets is on the very back of the model, so that doesn't hurt my eyes.
It's pathetic that my horribly OP computer (2.5 GB video memory 5770, 2.9 GHz quadcore, 4 gb of ram) could get nearly double the performance than what it gets. I'm not complaining though, it gets over 100 fps most of the time :v:
I always get good FPS, I have like 50-120 fps depending on the situation and map
Not really. I run it perfectly with my 512MB 8800GT.
128mb 6600 GT and with a frame rate that's usually 30. :smugdog:
I get +30 FPS, here's my specs: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 8800GT 512mb 2gb DDR2
AMD Athlon™ II x2 at 6.0ghz 8gb DDR2 Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 512mb 60fps :v:
24 player servers are great for better fps, also it isn't as clusterfuck.
intel dual core 2.47ghz, nvidia gtx260 and 2gb or 3gb of ram and my game runs smoothly as shit at 1280x1080 or so loading times are longer but i dont mind

I am shooting a scout for a long time and he turns around and kills me. The kill cam shows his health really low. happens all the time.
