(I've never played monkey island, but I'll take their word for it.) The original poster speculates that the wrench may be a promotional item because it is simply a cosmetic change (although that wouldn't explain 'Golden wrench no. [Blank]') Further reading into the topic reveals that the golden wrench in Monkey Island 2 looks like [url]http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk224/gamezebo/000Gamezebo1/Tales%20of%20Monkey%20Island%20Chap%203/tomi_inv_11.jpg[/url] , so it is a possible coincidence. There's also a lot of doubt because it seems unlikely that valve would tease it in the game files or make a kill icon. Just thought I'd share this with the facepunchery masses, as unlikely as it is.

Well I'd buy Monkey Island for it. I've heard that the original Monkey Island is a good game and not to mention the golden wrench is awesome.

Well atleast it isn't just a skin like the Sam and Max weapons were, this one actually having a use from what it seems.

Well, that actually makes a lot of sense. I'm kinda surprised that it's taken people so long to make the connection, seeing as how popular the Monkey Island franchise is.

I preordered it a while ago, so I will let you know if I get any wrench for doing it. It's more likely to be part of an Australium treasure hunt mode, IMO.

I've already pre-ordered so I hope this is true. And how the fuck can so many people claim they haven't played Monkey Island? The series is a fucking classic and if you have not at least tried it you should be ashamed.

I was going to buy it anyway, for the simple fact that I get Monkey Island 1 for free as well.

There isn't a golden wrench in any LucasArts MI games. The golden wrench image people are throwing about is from TALES. If it was going to be a wrench for MI2, it would be the infamous "monkey wrench".
