If your SDK itemtest for TF2 on the MP Engine is BROKEN, as in it WON'T WORK FOR SHIT AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHY, this MIGHT POSSIBLY HELP FOR SOME REASON. It fixed my SDK, so it might fix yours. Because of my limited knowledge of the Source Engine, i have no idea why most stuff happens. Downloading GUISTuidiomdl, configuring the file directories as prompted and running a qc. file seemed to fix my SDK. I have absolutely no idea why, maybe some of you guys do. If this was any help then that's good, but if not then sorry. Also apologies to anyone facepalming at my source-noobiness, but i just thought i'd share this. Cause it completely saved my ass.
What was wrong with the SDK in the first place? You're supposed to run the individual .exe/.bats from /steam/steamapps/common/team fortress 2/bin/

But basically, itemtest wouldn't run at all. nothing would happen. I tried editing the gameinfo.txt, editing the game configurations a bunch of times, running vconfig etc. But it just wouldnt boot, even from the .exes. Trust me i tried. i faced similar problems with the other tools and i waded through forum posts and tutorials, none of which helped. Thanks for your interest btw.
