My computer was running very bad before, giving me 5 fps and whatnot. I changed my graphics settings to dx8, and my fps increased. Now with the same computer, except with a defrag/reinstall of vista, my computer is running smooth. But, my TF2 is still in dx8, and I know this because of my painted hats, it says that Dx9+ required. So how do I go back to dx9? I've deleted the -dx8 option in launch options, I dont have a autoconfig, and I reinstalled TF2. Help please.

These are the only things in my launch options:
-windowed -novid -sw -noborder
-dxlevel 95
If you're still lagging you should download a few of those "no phong" packs they have of (what's now) gamebanana. Apparently it helps the lagg, and I believe that, since phong doesn't render on lower end computers.
Ahh, thanks Ond kaja, I can finally see my purple defiant spartan :D
I just want to point out that you should only use -dxlevel 95 if you got a DirectX 10/11 graphics card. Otherwise, it's -dxlevel 90
No, you are thinking of -dxlevel 98, -dxlevel 90 use SM2.0 shaders (DX9.0a) while -dxlevel 95 uses SM3.0 shaders (DX9.0c).
You could just use -autoconfig to restore everything to the defaults.
