Just mindless speculation, but who here thinks that the Soldier may get a Health based "weapon" like the Heavies Sandvich?

The sheer amount of "Captain Dan's Army Surplus Soup" and boxes of "The Rib Place" possibly give some sort of clue or is it a diversion to distract us from the main issue of newer weapons?
However I speculate that if the "Soup" is added it's going to be something like the Scout's "Bonk" or the "Sniper's" Jarate. Perhaps a Damage Boost to allies and yourself but weakens the damage done by enemies?
Could be a possibilty considering his apparent soup fetish.
I dont think valve is gonna make it give HP, as they already did that for heavy.
Would probably be a rack of ribs or soup.
Would be awesome
Did this really need a thread?
But if you ask me he needs some instant dinner. Just add water and you have food. I forget the anagram and I have to leave for school but I think its MREs?
Maybe make it so you can only get HP after you rocket jump?
I think he will get the knife to replace the shovel.
He should eat a bowl of maggots to regain health.
MREs- Meals Ready to Eat

Why is Sniper in quotations in this part?
I doubt it, honestly. I mean, it's Valve, so you never know, but I honestly doubt they'll make another 'consumable' unlock. At least not for the Soldier.
I would have thought the Demo would have got Soup, but now that Sandviches can be shared by the Heavy no HP increase items are needed.
You idiots.
He's obviously getting a copy of GUNS AND HAIRCUTS Magazine. This will be pivotal when fighting the Heavy who as we all know is balding.
I don't think more health items are necessary.

But it will be useless against pyros...
Therefore, UNBALANCED :science:
By the way, what's that knife taped to the table?
He should have MRE's that would be awesome.
I don't think he'd be getting something that grants him health, at least, not anything like the Sandvich. The Heavy's sandvich works well because the Heavy isn't very mobile at all, and can't reach the health packs quite as quickly.
Anyone who knows how to rocketjump knows that the Soldier is INFINITELY more mobile than the Heavy, and getting to health packs isn't a problem for him. Soldier doesn't need a self-healing item.
Imagine being given the adrenaline shot from l4d2, so you run, reload and swing melee faster for a short while. With a recharge, of course. In exchange your rockets would deal +X% more self damage (without making RJs better). No heals, but really you were just gonna use any extra health to rocket jump anyway.
It's the same route valve have taken with the demo - make jumping more expensive/not as useable, but add alternatives such as the charge to allow medicless play to be fun and fast. Plus, it means a way of getting around the long reload times for the RL, as well as giving the shovel some actual use!
Well fitting the soldiers style I can imagine him opening a can of soup, downing it on one. He puts his angry face on, crushes the can with one hand and lets out the most manly roar you have ever heard.
I can imagine that it gives you a temporary damage reduction allowing you to go berserk and show people what it means to mess with a man and his soup.
This has the cost of you being vulnerable beforehand so it's a tactical choice.
am i the only one who thinks it's a reference to "Thier gonna bury what's left of ya in a soupcan!"
seeing as thier fighting and stuff....

holy shit.
K rations, i can see it happening, but I'd rather a weapon really.
aaaaaah i just realised he has a map of Germany on his wall
I want all the soldiers to be weapons not items
He's a war veteran. He keeps it in case of a second attack.
By the way, what's that knife taped to the table?
It just happens to be a knife.
if he gets a can of soup it had better have a Popeye style animation with it.

I second this motion.
I like the solider's standing as a no-nonsense type of class. The satisfaction that comes form playing the soldier comes from the kills and the airshots and all that cool soldier stuff i cant seem to remember.

They could always use the melee slot to add something new, like the sandman did. Just so long as they stay there and not as an alternate to the shotgun (I really have no idea what they could give as a shotgun replacement that wouldn't either suck or be boring) then it'd still be possible for the soldier to be given an 'item' instead of a weapon.
The demoman needs haggis.
