They also did something interesting with the taunt icons: edit: it also seems that they broke the directors taunt, I cant equip it on anyone Edit 2: fixed it
Euraka effect is now trashcan tier. Update ruined the weapon. It was always a good weapon, you just needed to know when and how to use it. It works wonders on certain maps and can allow you to have infinite sustain while still giving the dispenser to your teammates, and you could have the teleporter next your nest but still in an advantageous position. Now it's fucking terrible because you can't build shit with it. It was great for building and sustaining a nest without a dispenser, now it's good for nothing. EDIT: Okay, to those rating disagree, what can you do with the new eureka effect that you couldn't do before? Ideally, your teleporter is going to be at base, so all this does is save you like 1 second to take a teleporter and reduces your effectiveness at being an engineer.
Still no fix on randomly unequipping cosmetics great
To my knowledge you can teleport to the exit without an entrance being built.
Also teleporting through your wrench doesn't affect the teleporter's recharge, meaning you can teleport through to a level 1 without making someone else wait 15 seconds. Edit: Also without an entrance, there's nothing for the spy to sap from spawn if you're off building a base.
I see literally no reason to make the gunslinger dispenser cheaper (it's 70 metal with the gunslinger equipped now) And the director's vision is gone because it's assigned to a "taunt slot" that we can't currently access.
Updated the Eureka Effect -Can now pickup buildings -Repair and upgrade rates have been decreased -Can teleport to your spawn room or your Teleporter Exit
Do the decreased repair and upgrade rates also mean you build slower? Edit: Just tested it, construction rate is still the same. Still a good wrench for ninjaneers who don't care about that much about upgrading or repairing buildings.

Valve clearly does not know how to handle this game.
Apparently you can teleport to an exit being sapped with the Eureka Effect, and you don't need an Entrance up either. Time to play the game of Intended or Bug?
Can you telefrag people with EE?
You can't taunt with the cig case anymore.
haha what the fuck they buffed the gunslinger of all weapons.
i don't know if you can consider it a buff you can still only build 2 things regardless its literally pointless outside of having a measly extra 30 to repair stuff
You can build a dispenser+tele without having to go for extra metal.
i don't know if you can consider it a buff you can still only build 2 things regardless its literally pointless outside of having a measly extra 30 to repair stuff
If we're getting extra theoretical here this gives you 30 metal. That's enough for a Widowmaker shot, and a meatshot from that will probably get you right back up to 100 metal or at least close. So it has the potential to be kind of a big deal.
You can build a dispenser+tele without having to go for extra metal.
Shit I didn't even think of this :pwn: It is a big deal. And on the topic of the EE, the only use I can really see with it is to try to get past the enemy lines with your sentry safe by spawn, get up a teleporter, tele back to spawn and bring your sentry through the tele. Putting 12 metal per hit instead of 25 into your buildings sounds really sucky though.
you could build a minisentry and a dispenser without going for extra metal earlier too afaik
Is there a new convar that goes with the eureaka effects new teleport menu? It'd be nice to have a key to go home and a key to go to the exit.
You know, I like the fact that they're preparing for the next big update, but if that means breaking a whole bunch of crap then I'm not sure if I want it.
You know, I like the fact that they're preparing for the next big update, but if that means breaking a whole bunch of crap then I'm not sure if I want it.
What is the point of this comment? I seriously can't work it out I mean no shit we don't want an update that will break the game? Of course it won't?
I think the EE was changed as a form of Offencive; nearly no upside to repairing / upgrading, easy access to spawn, almost untraceable as the Entrance isn't required. It REALLY needs either cheaper sentry cost or faster build speed though.
i feel like they should have decreased the amount of metal it takes to build a dispenser while using gunslinger slightly (maybe not down 30, but just 20 or something), and also slightly increased the mini-sentry's cost in proportion to this. this would deal with being able to plop down two mini-sentries consecutively without finding more metal, but encourage building dispensers to support yourself and your team.
I like how using the Rescue Ranger with the Eureka Effect went from being almost completely counterproductive to two weapons that greatly compliment each other. Although I kinda miss the Eureka Effect's old not being able to pick up buildings, no more classic TF2 Engineer with a optional teleport-to-home function.
Re-posted from MUS for those who don't want to scroll through 5-10 pages to find this. Fun Fact: You can go weaponless if you switch to a secondary that is only temporary and then press 4 to switch to the spellbook, it would go back to the previous weapon and if you use your secondary that gets rid of itself, you will now have the spellbook effect for the whole time your secondary is gone or if you switch weapons. This doesn't work with Bonk drinks however. On last-minute testing, this works great with running out of ammo too so you can be in a permanent state of civilian with no weapons unless you switch your weapons. [editline]particles[/editline] The particles are sadly only client-side from testing with friends for a bit.
Is the Gunslinger change intended despite being undocumented? Multiple people are saying so...and I think this might have happened with balance changes before. Someone's sent an e-mail, right?
Is the Gunslinger change intended despite being undocumented? Multiple people are saying so...and I think this might have happened with balance changes before. Someone's sent an e-mail, right?
Yeah turns out it's not intended, Valve released a hot fix a little bit ago:
Fixed a client crash caused by failing to properly parse the item schema Fixed not being able to equip The Director's Vision taunt in the Action slot Fixed not being able to taunt with the Spy's disguise kit Fixed the Engineer's build menu staying open after changing class Fixed being charged the incorrect amount of metal for a Dispenser when The Gunslinger is equipped Updated the description of The High Five! Taunt to better describe the new toggle behavior Updated the materials for The Eureka Effect HUD to support mat_picmip
