The Golden Wrench is a part of a contest for the upcoming Engie Update! - Games

In the thread below from Steam Forums, it is noted that there were very specific changes before this most recent update and the WAR! update. The only thing I can consider as a legitimate way to "destroy" the wrenches would be to kill the engineers wielding the wrenches. In the most recent comic, after Mr. Conagher (Engie's grandfather) accepts the challenge of keeping Blutarch alive [url=http://www.teamfortress.com/loosecanon/07.html]indefinitely[/url], he is approached by the [url=http://www.teamfortress.com/loosecanon/08.html]announcer[/url] to do the same for Redmond who is the [b]only[/b] known holder of Australium. This finally means that all RED engineers will wield a gold wrench and all BLU engineers will have to destroy the wrenches by (most likely) killing them. I've no idea what this would be a contest for though, if one side were to win everyone would get a gold wrench but would you only be able to use it depending on your team colour or would it be useable with both teams? Your thoughts?

My thoughts on this are sad and depressing.

Very possible. There must be a reason they are labeled as golden wrench #1, #2, #3 and such.

That is just absurd. I think that most likely it will be an item granted in a way similiar to the Gibus or the Outbreak achievement in Left 4 Dead.

Also a possible release date for this could be very soon. If you notice in the comic frame where the Engineer is sifting through his [url=http://www.teamfortress.com/loosecanon/13.html]grandfather's blueprints[/url], the date he built Blutarch's "Life Extender Machine" is July 17th. But this is just a wild guess.

August 3rd is next.... I hope for July!

What if there is going to be a fixed amount of wrenches dropped in game and you can only equip it on one team and you can get it by killing opposing teams player that has it, pretty much by the end of the event team having most wrenches wins the contest. Although there would need to be a system of taking the wrench away and giving it to someone else if a person isn't playing for certain amount of time to stop them from keeping it. I don't know, there's too much unexplained things so you cant make an accurate guess.

Once you find a golden wrench you and one friend or family member will go to Valve on a tour of Gabes private chocolate factory.
