Prepare for the Engineer update's achievements! - Games

Well, most of you know that the Engie update will be released today. Or tomorrow. Well, it's coming. And you'll want to have those achievements. But what if you don't want to use the achievement unlocker because you're a paranoid fuck, or you want to avoid the mindless troglodytes in the farm servers or possibly just do it with a couple of friends? Well, here's a simple thing everyone can do that will allow you to farm achievements alone or with friends. First, get your choice of achievement map on FPSBANANA or other site. (My personal favorite is [url=http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/96358]Achievement Turbo V10[/url]) Second, make a new .cfg file and name it "achievements.cfg" (Make sure that file extensions are visible in windows explorer or it will not work. You will know it works if you are notified that changing file extensions can damage the file. It won't. If you are not sure how to do so you can look it up on Google.) Third, paste the following into the file. Put a password where prompted, without < and > of course. (Make it one word with no spaces.) Make sure you save. [code] sv_password <password> sv_cheats 1 mp_teams_unbalance_limit 0 bot -team 0 -class scout -name Scout bot -team 0 -class soldier -name Soldier bot -team 0 -class pyro -name Pyro bot -team 0 -class demo -name Demo bot -team 0 -class heavyweapons -name Heavy bot -team 0 -class engineer -name Engie bot -team 0 -class medic -name Medic bot -team 0 -class sniper -name Sniper bot -team 0 -class spy -name Spy sv_cheats 0 retry[/code] Fourth, start up tf2. In the console, type in the following: [code] sv_lan 0 map <mapname> [/code] Where <mapname> is the map of choice. It will be easy as a list of maps will pop up below the text field which can be scrolled through. If you don't know how to open the console, go to keyboard, then advanced. Tick "enable console". Then, once the map is all started up, type in the following. [code] exec achievements [/code] This will make the map exit and restart. When you spawn, there will be 9 bots on the blue team, completely motionless. You can fool around however you want now. If you want to open up the server again you can just remove the password using the "sv_password" command in console. (A lot of people will join if they can. You can also give the password to friends and have them join, or you can farm in peace. Note: If you are using a wireless router, you may not be able to have people join. If that's the case, make sure your [url=http://portforward.com/]ports are forwarded.[/url] I'm sure that most of you know this already but some of you might be newer and may not. There was an old thread or something on this somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

I used to farm achievements but I stopped doing it when the spy/sniper update came out. I found it much more satisfying to earn them normally. Nice of you to post this for people though.

Can we get achievements if our ports aren't forwarded? I hope so.

Why wouldn't you?. You can even get it with no internet connection.

Yeah, since Valve got serious about Achievement and Items programs, I stopped idling (well, not i'm worried about getting banned, but get some of the items deleted again) and using SAM program.
