• Transfer TF2 Full to friend for free weekend?

Hey, some friend's of mine are meeting up for a lan party tomorrow to checkout the TF2 free weekend. Only problem is, I'm the only one with the full TF2 so it would be really great If everyone didn't have to download the game. So if I just put my TF2 folder (steamapps/tf2) on my external harddrive and then put it in their steamapps folder, would their steam be friendly and not make us download anything extra? (PS. also, is a connection to the internet required for the free w/e?) Many thanks :)
The TF2 folder and the .gcfs. I've done it before with L4D/L4D2.
So, C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\captainhams\team fortress 2 and what are these ".gcfs" your talking about?
That, and in: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps Team fortress 2 content.gcf, team fortress 2 materials.gcf, and team fortress 2 client content.gcf.
You only really need the gcf files, then run the game and the rest of the files will be built from the gcf.
The TF2 folder and the .gcfs. I've done it before with L4D/L4D2.
Who better to trust than with a guy with a .zip file on his avatar? But yeah, as above you just need the .gcfs.
Or, do it the proper way and backup inside Steam :-) (File -> Backup Games)
does using steam to backup the game do the same thing?
Basically.
