• Finding unusual hats by using Google
    21 replies, posted
We all know that recently drunken f00l has added a new feature to tf2items.com that allows premium users to search for unusual hats. In order to become a premium member users need to donate to tf2items. This is a solution for those of you who don't want to pay to find pixels online. For example, if you want to find an Unusual Pugilist's Protector all you need to do is type this code in to google: [release]site:tf2items.com "Unusual Pugilist's Protector" "Effect: Scorching Flames" -inurl:"time"[/release] If such a hat is possessed by a player, his tf2items page will show up in the results.

Works for me, Thanks man.
Cool, but what would I want to find them for?
So you can spam the person with trades :downs:?
and look like a desperate asshat :downs:?
isnt that all of TF2 Trading :downs:?
I came into the thread expecting something where you could drop unusuals.
Works, thanks
Holy cow. This is amazing! No wonder i keep getting friend request from people wanting my sunbeams mining light. Thanks a bunch OP! Edit: It seems to search in the histoy of backpacks too, which kinda sucks, but still, it's way easier to find what you are looking for. Edit2: Aw, it only found 3 people with a Tosslecap with green confetti. One guy is from FP and it's his favorite unusual, one is offline and one is ignoring me. This is just great..
This shows about 3/4 of the people with the hat.
I searched for a Sunbeams Guadalajara (I hat I have) and got 6 results. One of the links didnt work, 2 of them just had hats with Sunbeams, 1 just had a normal Guadalajara, and the other two didn't have either. None of them were me.
tf2items.com only shows them if the backpack has been viewed so it doesn't show all of them
The premium version will show private backpacks if they were not private at some time. Great. This will find tons of people who haven't been online for days, or even months. Found someone with a small backpack but with a Circling Heart Engie's Cap. Last Online: 32 days ago

I was very confused.
title made me thought google could make unsual drops
This explains why I suddenly got FIVE people asking me all at once for my Beams Merry.
[img_thumb]http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t70/adamater2/Untitled-43.png[/img_thumb]
I was referring to the Google search, but that's nice I guess.
It searches for the name of the hat. You used a name tag.
Noted, but that's still just a big a flaw as what I posted earlier. Lots of people name their unusual.
