• Tips on how to get better as Spy and Sniper?

Alright, call me a noob or something, but I simply cannot play Spy or Sniper. I just can't do it. Watching me play Sniper is a farce. I miss 7 times at a guy standing nearly still. And spy's a different story. I'm lucky if I can get the Heavy who's clearly going the wrong way. How do I play better as these 2?
For Sniper, I would say definitely load up tr_walkway. That will make you so much better. First, just shoot at them while they walk straight. As you get better, mix it up and have them strafe, jump, etc. As long as you have a high ground, it's pretty solid training. Then, do some offline practices on easy for more live-fire training. The bots are pretty stupid on easy, but they still move around realistically. Up the challenge level until you're confident enough to go online. [editline]22nd February 2011[/editline] Spy, I suck at that class too. Good luck.
Have you already watched some YouTube tutorials? Always was enough for me. In fact I didn't dare to play Spy before looking up a tutorial because of the class' complexity.
spy you really have to guess where an enemy is going to be going and play mind games. I suck at spy but i can piss of 4 players of a team by just taking potshots and running around near their spawn EDIT: There are also some jumps you should learn to get around the map quicker as a spy. Heres a couple alright ones on dustbowl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncbQbDiA58w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PovLA312xnI The one in the second video is extremely helpful as any class.
To be a good spy you need to be stealthy. Avoid everyone. And take out the prime targets like Heavies, Scouts and Soldiers. And always hide. Dont run in the open to much or those pesky pyro's will get you. And don't always disguise as the same class. Try mixing it up a little.
The main thing about Spy is to rely on invisibility rather than disguises - the best spies are the ones you don't see coming. Also, don't forget you have a PRIMARY weapon in the form of your revolver. Shit comes in handy if you get found out, and you can pick people off as you see their health bars. A good way of approaching people is vertically rather than horizontally - if someone sees a 'Pyro' suspiciously running up behind them you're a dead man, but jumping off a high ledge/building is a surefire way to slice up some spines.
For sniper: 1. Jump up and down and shoot randomly at walls while you walk. This will keep you well hidden, and make your movements hard to see. 2. Wear a unusual. Preferablly one that goes around your head, or a nice shiny one. Never wear one that has a not so noticable effect, you want to be as hidden as possible. Bright shiny effects help this. 3. Paint your sniper hat hot pink or lime green. These work best, they help you blend with the tf2 art style. 4. Never charge up your shots. Charging up takes too much time and effort. Why the hell are you using a rifle anyway? Go get a huntsman, thats the best sniper weapon. 5. Don't worry about spies, they can't hurt you, they are scared of your shield, if you have one. 6. Stand out in the open, this helps you get a clear shot. For spy: 1. Try not to wear a disguise often, while wearing a unusual with a bright effect painted hot pink. This helps distract them, so you can get up close and stab them. 2. Never use the normal spy watch. Upgrades are ALWAYS better. 3. Never use the revolver, use the ambassador, since spies should be able to headshot. 4. Try to "not" act like the enemy. Run against the enemy movements, dont disguise, never go invisible and get behind them and try to be them. This never works. 5. If a enemy sees you, jump up and down and yell medic. This will distract them. 6. If you own a mic, use it at all times on a all talk server. Don't worry, they can't see your huge icon above your head, indicating you are a spy and talking on the other team. Using the guide, I always get number one in the scoreboard!

Do you guys will get angry if my suggesting is go to play another class that help your team? hell, what I was thinking this is TEAM fortress, nobody uses teamwork (it's sad because it's true).
I would advise watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-TzXi7Gkl4&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL This is a series from a gentleman friend of mine, He is a very good spy, none of the edited crap like OMFGninja. He explains in every video how he plays and what you should do. A few basics: Use the revolver, unless you have fantastic aim. Use the invis watch, longest cloak time. Cycle disguises regularly and attempt to break line of sight and cloak as soon as possible. Dont wear unusuals, unless its barely noticable (flies). Dont ever disguise as scout. EDIT: He also has a few guides on pH. http://www.tf2-ph.co.uk/category/spy/
Dont wear unusuals.
Are you mad?
Not really, Im just saying they make you more noticeable.
What I meant was "Good sir, are you quite insane? Hats are an integral part of Team Fortress 2" as opposed to "umad u got no unusuals breh?"
Im talking about gameplay, not cosmetics, he can wear what he wants but he could sacrifice some stealth for wearing something that is essentially a novelty.
The joke is that people obsess over hats. I'm not being serious D:
as a sniper its all about accuracy so just play. as a spy you gotta be smart about your moves and not to panic really

He complained for like 5 minutes about how he was fully cloaked and that I'm a lousy player who relies on luck.
Use the Sydney Sleeper, fuck aiming. You got something to say, Tabby?
As Sniper, Headshots dont matter as people say, as he said in his own team interview: "Be efficient." But it is more damaging and highly encouraged lest you incur the wrath of the "OMFG BODYSHOTSS1!!!@!@!" Headshots are good, but not amazingly necessary. But use common sense, when you face an overhealed heavy, aim for and kill the medic, then headshot the heavy as he will be overhealed, but when you face lower hp classes, go nuts with the bodyshots if you have to.
Fully charged bodyshots will kill a Scout, Medic, Engineer, Spy, or Sniper in one hit. So if you've got the time, you don't even need to bother with headshots.
Sniper: -Aim to the head Spy: -Knife goes in enemies' backs
Someone asks an honest question, people don't say anything constructive. At least Suttles put some effort into it, but now I think it's time to hear some actual advice. Uhmm, when I play Sniper, I don't stand in the same spot twice. I move to another position after a kill. As for Spy, patience has to be observed and you shouldn't rush ahead to get a kill.
Sniper: If you can't aim use the motherfucking bodyshoot rifle (aka sidney sleeper) Don't use the scope all the time and wait for your prey, only use the scope when you se your target Take Cover after shooting Don't be polite, if you headshoot someone taunt and then tell the guy that he's a noob Be inefficient, bodyshoots are the easy way to get kills Spy: If you want to travel long distance the invis watch is your best option If you want to hide and wait for your prey CnD is your watch Stab and Sap, if the sentry isn't aiming at you , stab the engie and then sap the sentry, some engineers aren't retarded and they will kill you first and then remvoe the sapper Pyro charging at you? use your revolver Somebody is disctrated but for some reason you can't backstab him? use your revolver
Did anyone make the sniper quotes yet?
Practice with Spy is a must. Learn how you react and how players act. Also, check behind you every time you make a backstab. You have to be aware of your surroundings.
As sniper, don't predict, just shoot directly at people's heads. Works every time.
As a spy, backstab snipers, as a sniper, shiv spies.
For sniper, turn off mouse accel and if you want a lower sensitivity but only while zoomed, try zoom_sensitivity_ratio 0.75 (or some other number).
I recommend you use the SMG and go Battle Sniper, because that works.
Sniper: click on heads whenever you have the chance, if you cant find the head or are having trouble hitting it make sure to spam bodyshots, also make sure to here for an spy decloak or an incoming enemy from behind Spy: dont waste your cloak too much and stay disguised whenever possible, when disguised try not to do anything or freak out, just dont look people in the eyes and act natural as if you were the player itself, also when performing a chain stab go from either the person at the back or the highest priority target (heavy, medic, engie, etc.) available, and make sure to get rid of sentry nests that are giving a hard time to your team and ignore the ones that just stay there and do absolutely nothing
