We can consider this thread the authority on using item_found, because the previous massive "hax lololol" thread hit 20+ pages and no one would ever see this.
This thread and original post will be as clear as possible so people can use this easily.

We'll start with some basics:

Now that we have that out of the way, lets get on to making people jealous.

item_found is a concommand used by tf2 to let the client announce to the server and other players that the client has found an item. It takes two parameters: A string, and a checksum used to validate the command.

With the help of certain individuals, the command and params are now generally understood.

So in order to craft this command, there are some web scripts available which do this for you.
This is the original script, the author of which I'm not sure.

Plug in your PID from status:

You can replace tf_weapon_jar with any localized resource string found in tf_english.txt.

Say you wanted to find TEAM FORTRESS, for whatever silly reason. :buddy:
Open up the tf_english.txt file, and you'll see this line:

Replace tf_weapon_jar with tf_title, and use the crafted command with the above scripts, and you'll be on your way.

The concommand itself is made so it announces to the whole server. I've ran into a few situations where people just haven't noticed, but I don't know if that's because they're all dense, because they don't care, or if they just haven't seen it. The majority of the time it's visible to other players.

gais I just found an excellent way to get the unlokcs. u see u only need to open hl2.exe with notepad and go down the lines and u will see secret command... i don't have pic atm tho. but it works...
