I'm sure we've had a few, or at least seen some. Here's a few of mine. Back when hats first came out, I got a hat. However, I was always afraid to wear it. Why? Well a popular rumor was if you die, you lose your hat, and the person who kills you gets it. Obviously that was only somewhat true. The hat does come off, but you don't lose it. I tend to think that rumor inspired the Gibus achievement. Still have said hat to this day. For the longest time, I thought Airblasting was a feature that always existed, despite playing the game and maining Pyro since 2007. When the Made Man came out, not only did the TF2 wiki state this, but other players as well too. If you were to kill someone while wearing it, you'd leave a calling card (a rose), on the ragdoll. Painted mine black just for this reason. Obviously, everyone was informed wrong. However a few years later, it did become a feature. Post yours too, of course.
I thought the game was fun.
I thought there was a game called Half life 2, that had tf2 characters, set in the l4d universe.
the "halloween mix" quick play option. there's a dedicated "halloween 2013" button for helltower. i chose "halloween mix." sent me to a helltower server. disconnected and redo it over and over. 4 helltower servers in a row. 5th server was eyeaduct. the game was over while i was spectating "server is changing level..." helltower.
i played the mecha update and thought "wow! i can't believe they're going to give us weapons like this every major update next year!"
The first ever item I bought from the Mann Co. Store was a Bat Outta Hell, just because I thought it was a "rare" item....oh the regrets.
back in the day i though for real that you had a chance to pick hats from the ground as items. [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/560907770746070479/39A53AFB4DB85A3D2CC65F27B7694FA369FF93A7/[/t]

I kept running all over 2fort looking for weapons and hats on the ground, took me awhile to realize that isn't how it worked :v.
Before they introduced weapon smelting to craft hats I'd always delete my extra weapons I got in drops as I thought they were useless. Little did I know...
Before they introduced weapon smelting to craft hats I'd always delete my extra weapons I got in drops as I thought they were useless. Little did I know...
I did the same thing because my backpack was getting too full with stuff.
I thought 2fort was a good map
I thought vintage weapons were worth a lot because they're not obtainable any more. Ended up getting sharked because of that. Also thought opening crates was a good idea. Hah.
I thought vintage weapons were worth a lot because they're not obtainable any more. Ended up getting sharked because of that. Also thought opening crates was a good idea. Hah.
Well, opening crates was a good idea when keys didn't go for 8 refined... It's a bit crazy how they went up from 2~refined to 8 for no reason whatsoever. Especially since Keys are unlimited, so they shouldn't increase in price. But economy was never my strong suit.
i sold my earbuds for a few normal and vintage hats when the mannconomy update got released.
Well I sold my Max's Severed Head for a Hound Dog. :pwn:
Right after the mannconomy update, I bought earbuds for a tyrant's helm, and then sold the earbuds for an alien swarm parasite.
Especially since Keys are unlimited, so they shouldn't increase in price.
Imagine if metal was also unlimited, free to obtain and less useful. oh wait that's exactly what it is
A friend of mine gave me a strange Degreaser for free when I was new and I crafted it with another pyro weapon hoping to make it strange :v:

It's human nature. Just the next trader is trying to get more than the last one and a few stupid people trade for it making the price set in stone until the next guy outdoes that guy. "Hey, this guy sold his key for 2.2 Ref. Maybe I can sell mine for 2.3" and so on. Sites like Backpack.tf solidify the price even more.

Keys arent unlimited in that they cost money, so there's a finite amount of them. There's just more and more refined metal being pumped out every day. Refined metals aren't particularly useful for anything other than trying your luck making random headgear, higher degrees of metal would be nice, like Australium bars or something...and make them require like 50x ref to craft, and marketable perhaps? But then people would idle even harder and even then they'd be worthless...its not really something that can be fixed unless Valve stops the farmers.
I thought you could pick up weapons from the floor call of duty style
I thought you could pick up weapons from the floor call of duty style
Well, technically, you can pick them up to replenish your ammo :v:
back in the day i though for real that you had a chance to pick hats from the ground as items. Too bad I only dominate the gibus. [sp]joke, I would be the richest tf2 guy because of all the unusual wearing players I dominated :[[/sp]
For a long time, I thought that hitting the buildables with a wrench to increase the building speed was just wishful thinking, because it seemed absurd to me that such an action would have any effect.
I used to think that keys were going up in price then i realised that they're not and its refined thats dropping in price! Imagine that! But really, i used to think FF2 couldn't be any worse than VSH, oh how wrong i was.
opening a few crates #19 expecting to get a strange degreaser for a friend. until i read the bit that says that weapons in that crate will not be strange.
I thought that when you get the Black Box...You turned pro [t]http://i.imgur.com/f6nBXTz.png[/t] Maybe this is why i was obsessed with this weapon the first time that i seen it Also, i've sold a crate 40# for...1 backburner, 1 demoshield and i can't remember the third weapon... I just was like..."Uhh this crate looks amazing, keys drops?"
Refined metals aren't particularly useful for anything other than trying your luck making random headgear, higher degrees of metal would be nice, like Australium bars or something...
And you're able to craft unusuals...I imagine people committing suicide on hightower
When they introduced the item drop system I misconstrued the information to myself and thought I could grab fallen weapons off the ground to get them. I got upset when I couldn't pick up a huntsman of the ground on plr_pipeline, then moreso when a spy ran over a huntsman on the ground and took it as ammo and I thought he'd stolen the weapon drop, only to later find out that's not how it worked :v:
I always thought that crit explosives deal more damage to buildables. Found the truth only 5-6 months ago.
I thought to find items, you literally had to run around the map and find them.
i sold my earbuds for a few normal and vintage hats when the mannconomy update got released.
I sold mine for a description tag. Never used the tag.
