• How to disable the lightning stuff on your weapons when you win a round?

Lately I've been wanting to disable that lightning stuff on my weapons when I win a round. It lags me horribly and its starting to get annoying. I'm guessing that there's a console command or something that I can put in my autoexec.cfg file. Can someone help me with this?
Skins or directx 8.0
Skins or directx 8.0
That.
Or you could replace the particle file. Won't work on sv_pure servers, but niether will a skin.
Skins or directx 8.0
Has there been any skins created to do this yet?

Or rather you can't join a server that has a differing particle file. I made a Grey Engi mod with Grey Teleporter particles and I could only join my server that hosted the particles. No others.
Well if the original skins for weapons remove it then I could upload a bunch of old textures somewhere. I keep a very old copy of TF2 so I can look back at the original version from time to time (I love beta shit). Though it's only for default weapons, not unlockables. Sorry. :frown:
Looks like I'll need to put it in Dx 8.0.
I was going to make a thread about this, but you beat me to it. Although, my question is if there is any way to disable just the literal lightning, not the light wrap. It's annoying.
Well hold on, I'll go find which particle file does it and I'll give you a blanked out PCF file to override it with. :buddy:
Valve really should offer a colourblind option for the kritz. Much like jarate. That way you could switch it to an icon instead of lightnin' sappan mah compy!

Just be aware that it'll change ANYTHING that uses that lightning effect - Kritzkrieg, the nucleus core, stuff like that.
why do you care

I just tried several methods of removing the effect and for some reason the game crashes hard if I do it that way. (I'm new to particle editing. :frown:) But I CAN do it in a way where stuff like the Nucleus core will keep the lightning effects. I just need to change the weapon view particles to use a transparent texture with a different name than the default lightning. Whichever way you guys want it. Just tell me and I'll figure it out. I don't think the Nucleus core is too important, especially if the lightning texture was the culprit in bogging down your performance anyway.
