• Hiding the hud but keeping the kill-feed?
    34 replies, posted
Hey guys I'm in the middle of recording for a TF2 frag movie and I'm wondering how I would turn off all of the hud except the kill feed at the top right ( I wanna keep "One <KILLED/WEAPONS> Two" and nothing else. Anyone know of a script or console command to do this? cl_drawhud 0 does not work, it clears everything.
I guess you would have to have someone else record you from spectator while you record without the hud, then edit it later...
I guess you would have to have someone else record you from spectator while you record without the hud, then edit it later...
That'd be dumb and irritatingly difficult to do since I don't usually play with anyone. I also record demo files, not real-time.
Make a custom HUD that deletes everything except for that and record?
Make a custom HUD that deletes everything except for that and record?
Kind of the point of this thread, no? If I knew, why would I make it?
Because of answers like that it seems there is no way to do that
Why would you want to make a frag video anyways?
You can't, because it's part of the hud.
Why would you want to make a frag video anyways?
Because I do, no point in explaining it. (And I'm a video editor, it's just another project)
You can't, because it's part of the hud.
If you've ever watched a Frag movie from any Source game you'll see it is possible.
You'll probably have to make HUD skin edit.
Tried minimal HUD?
Tried minimal HUD?
Yes, it's still too much. I want the screen as clean as possible for editing purposes but the kill-feed still shows which kills are mine etc.
I think it had something to do with cl_drawhud though. Even though it's most likely a binary SVAR, try different numbers. 2, 3, 4, etc.
Just record it once with the hud on and once with the hud off. You can edit it. Since you told us you are a video editor I presume you do know how to edit videos...
I'm not recording two videos of everything just to mask in one part, that adds double the load in filesize and editing flow.
Just do it once and compile the new vid, and edit that instead. This isn't rocket science.
Make a demo and in your demo do cl_drawhud 0 It will make less lag and make it easier for your movie and disk space.
Just do it once and compile the new vid, and edit that instead. This isn't rocket science.
It would disrupt my work flow. I'm not doing it like that, it's time consuming, annoying and just a stupid way of going about it. Don't try and justify it to me cause I'm not doing it that way either way you put it. :\
You have no idea how pretentious you sound.
You have no idea what you're talking about. It might sound easy just to slap a video ontop of another and crop it out, render it at the same quality it was captured then import and edit again. Easy to DO, applying it to 10 minutes worth of clips isn't an easy task.
Yes it is, not that it matters; Just follow Solidus Blacks link ;)
A frag video? What is this, Call of Duty?
A frag video? What is this, Call of Duty?
Counter-strike would have been a more appropriate game to mention. Also this, http://www.sourceradio.com/modules.php?name=Vault&chan=TF2
Why are you being so stupid. Why ask for help if you're not willing to take it.
I'm not recording two videos of everything just to mask in one part, that adds double the load in filesize and editing flow.
If you only use the one corner, it should only increase filesize by 1.25.
il upload the hud in a second, wait. Here you go mate, only shows crosshair and kill notices, grabbed it from etf2l forums not long ago. Follow insturctions in readme file :) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=61UYC7VX
Why are you being so stupid. Why ask for help if you're not willing to take it.
I have been and replying to almost everyone. I would have said "thanks I've got it" by now if anything worked the way I'm looking for it too. [editline]02:34PM[/editline]
il upload the hud in a second, wait.
