I somehow managed to obtain all three of the hat tower evolutions in one night.
After crafting my refined metal, I got the hat pillar (which i promptly went OH MY GOOOOOOD over). I already had the gray one (Modest) so I figured "Well, old friend...it's time to go" and crafted it with my Gatsby.
I got the second stage of the tower. I promptly went "What the FUCK" and crafted it with my Engineer Mask (YOU WILL BE MISSED SON, YOU WERE GOOD, REAL GOOD...) and got a Demoman Pirate hat. Which made me happy since I played Demoman most.
But what the hell, seriously. It's like wanted me to have a multiple hat tower.
Oh well. Pirate Hat.

You ended up with the pirate hat so that's nice, but I'd be fine with the tower rather than crafting Gatsby. It might be pretty boring hat but not many have it.
You could've just posted this in the hat thread, you know.

I've never found a hat, and I just crafted one.
I figured I'd craft and hope I'd get a neat hat, I'm not sure what one would be good. Thing is, I crafted that one Medic hat that looks like a fedora with feathers. I got one of the only hats I don't like. Goddamnit.

The next round I found it as a drop.
