Rage, or how I got Tf2 to run flawlessly on a netbook

Intel GMA 3100 (doesn't support pixel shader 1.1, which is what tf2 uses), intel duel core processor
Believe me. If you've casually gazed across some autoexec config for increasing FPS, seem some gimmicky performance increasing program, heard of switching directx levels.. I've done it. Getting TF2 to run on my netbook has been an on and off 2 year project of mine, trying different configs and getting hit and miss results. After a year I was running an FPS netting autoexec and nothing else. I got about ten FPS and particle effects crashed me. A year and a half from start and I had secured a low poly low res pack for everything in TF2 (it actually looks pretty nice, like a novelty n64ish look.). 60 fps, particle effects still crashed me. At the suggestion of a helpful forumgoer, I installed swiftshader, which net me another ten FPS and some particle effects were useable (spy uncloak, water splash). I was p. much about to swear off the search. Finally, the simplest thing I had overlooked-a driver update-was all I needed to play TF2.
I guess I'm posting this for those of you who might be spending the day searching for FPS increasing miracles like I was. Just search for the terms I said, they should be easy to find.
Yes, they'd souped up the GMA drivers to allow shaders in hardware for those that can support it.
(the lowpoly pack sounds good, though. Sauce?)

I play tf2 on an acer aspire 5920.
With the wrong kind of graphics card , i dunno , not integrated one
Can someone give me some pointers for running TF2 on an Intel GMA4500? I can't play at 15 fps, it's unbearable.
I should try this on my desktop, to try and get better FPS.
I have a pentium 4 2.4 ghz, 512 MB Ram, and ATI Radeon 9200 graphics card with 128 mb.
You should post the config files you're using. Pretty please?
Useful for people who don't have anything else to play it on.

That's the low poly pack, can someone please explain how I install this?
