My favourite is the Direct Hit, because I play as more of a direct hitter. The Black Box is cool too, but I rarely use mine, if ever. Direct Hit is my favourite because it is the kind of soldier I play. Rocket Launcher is my next favourite because of the good splash damage, excellent with a Kritzkrieg. The Black Box would be my least favourite because it is too easy in my opinion. Good for roaming soldiers, pocket should probably stick with the Rocket Launcher. The Rocket Jumper is the best weapon in the entire game. What is your favourite and why? EDIT: This was really never a judgment of the best rocket launcher, really your favourite one or the one you use the most.
The standard Rocket Launcher, it's very reliable for me.
Black box seems most popular. I find I get most kills and last long with it.
Rocket Launcher is best overall assuming you have a competent team. Black Box is only good if you have shit medics or no medics at all. If you have a pocket medic and still use this you're basically retarded for giving up 1/4th of your offensive power. Direct Hit is great at taking out sentry nests, but not much else. Even if you're exceptional at aiming with it it's not worth giving up crucial splash damage and the ability to spam corners.
Rocket Jumper 4 life. Ultimate travel tool, who needs bullets when you can melee things? On a serious note, Direct Hit, I have a better chance of hitting someone with it than with the normal rocket launcher for some reason.

I've been using the Direct Hit since it came out, but I thought I would like the Black Box more, so I crafted it. I don't really like the Black Box that much though. But yeah, I've had some practice with the aiming and stuff, so I've gotten sort of good with it.
Rocket Launcher, Direct Hit is the 2nd best. Black Box can go rot in hell.
I dislike the Direct Hit, it kind of gives up the main ability of the soldier. Being able to deliver easy damage to large groups of enemies.
Direct hit kinda sucks as it barely does any damage at a long distance, kinda ironic seeing as THAT IS ITS PURPOSE. Either way the rocket launcher is the most practical.
Rocket Launcher items ruined tf2
Parody thread?
I dislike the Direct Hit, it kind of gives up the main ability of the soldier. The Direct Hit was for Soldiers that had gotten good at aiming and didn't just spam rockets everywhere in the hopes splash damage got someone.
The Rocket Jumper
there is no 'best' rocket launcher Default RL is good for soldiers relying on splash damage Direct Hit is for soldiers who want to use it more like a railgun and rely less on splash damage Black Box is for soldiers who don't have a decent medic on hand Rocket Jumper is for idiots who want to be a dumb gimmick
INB4 "Best Demo Weapon" Thread. I'd say the Rocket Launcher. It has 4 rockets, deals splash damage and it's more satifying to airshot someone with it than with the DirectHit (even though that's the DH's purpose).
Direct Hit because it's amazing for juggling.
Black Box is best for soldiers that just spam from far while running backwards, or is this is really hard to fire rockets without getting damaged a lot (heavies?). Direct Hit is fun but not reliable against decent players that strafe in a random pattern. Can be good to spam in corridors. Rocket jumper is fun, that is all. So RL.
Rocket Jumper is for idiots who want to be a dumb gimmick
I totally disagree on that. Rocket Jumper is for good Soldiers. Those who don't need Rockets. RJ + Shotgun + Equalizer or Pain Train are awesome combos. The RJ makes you survive the Equalizer's Taunt which makes the RJ a lethal weapon when you know good spots to pull of a tauntkill attempt.
Parody thread?
you must be new to the internet, or half retarded i normally use the rocket launcher, but the other two are just as good in different areas. For example the black box can be a good soloing/flanking tool when you don't have medic with you. If i kept on playing tf2, i would try to get good with the direct hit. I think overall it's a better weapon if you have it mastered.
Direct Hit. It's godlike if you're a good shot.

But I still agree.
Here's a hint for everyone who thinks it's a good idea to make these dumb threads: the stock weapons are hands down the best weapons because they are balanced to be a well-rounded weapon suitable for the class using them. All unlocks are either given situational buffs or have their mechanics completely overhauled so that they operate for a completely different purpose.
The Jumper. Jump with it without consequences and shoot your enemies with a shotgun from mid-air, or land on them and bludgeon them to death with a shovel. Sun Tzu didn't mention that, and I'm sure he knows a little more about fighting than I do BECAUSE HE INVENTED IT.

I managed to get a K/D ratio of 1.7 or something on a full public.
I love rocket jumper but it has so many downsides
Yes, I am. I managed to get a K/D ratio of 1.7 or something on a full public.
Yes, because you were playing on a pub against people who probably max out their K/D ratio at 0.2. Try playing against good players with that loadout and i guarantee you'll get stomped. [editline]26th January 2011[/editline] Let's look at some future threads: Best heavy weapon: Stupid question. Sasha, obviously. It deals decent damage, and has low spinup time. No point in using Natascha anymore after the nerf. I suppose it's decent if you aren't pushing too much. Brass Beast is mainly a defense weapon and is not well rounded for all situations. Best pyro weapon: Again, stupid question because each flamethrower has its uses. The degreaser can be used for the 10% speed boost, or for axtinguisher synergy. The backburner is for pyros who act more sneaky. The default flamethrower is for pyros who want to deal decent damage yet still be able to use airblasts. The default one is the most well-rounded for all purposes. Best Spy weapon: The ambassador is for people with good aim who like to revolver snipe, useless when you're up close and personal because of the damage/fire speed. The L'etranger is used for the saharan bonus or for recharging the dead ringer more quickly, useless as a weapon for dealing damage. The default revolver deals a good amount of damage and works well with any watch. Seems like revolver wins that one. I could keep going but isn't it obvious which weapon wins each time?
the stock weapons are hands down the best weapons because they are balanced to be a well-rounded weapon suitable for the class using them
Amputator. It has literally no downside whatsoever, and provides a heal on taunt. Yeah yeah, I know, you and your super-pro comp playstyle don't leave room for using taunts, but I'm sure every competitive player can agree that getting something they probably won't ever use without losing anything is better than stock.

Melee isn't really something that you define a class by. The amputator is only good if you're looking to use that set bonus it gives. Otherwise you're more likely to be successful with the ubersaw/vitasaw. Both of them give massive advantages for ubercharges.
He wasn't arguing it was good against pro players. He was arguing it was effective.
