This has been occurring for me since I first started playing TF2 over a year ago yet I have never questioned it..
When using the console, if I open it and attempt to type something in, it will close instantly.
However, if I type a vowel, the console will not close but will instead enter in a modifed version of that letter (french etc, with the circumflex at the top). Then I type backspace and get rid of that, and then I can type normally. Next time I close the console and open it, I will have to do the above again.
Does this happen to anybody else?
Nope. Reinstall the game. Oh, and pictures.

And I've already reinstalled the game before for different reasons and the problem is still there and always has been.
i get this in gmod, i press e the nbackspace and start typing, i thought it was some sort of way to keep away malicous lua's are codes : /
A quick google search indicates that it may have to do with non-US keyboard layouts. It doesn't seem like there's a way to fix it other than set your keyboard to US english.
