• Servers that end maps before they are done

I've been seeing more and more of this. Does anyone know why servers do this? I've been trying to blacklist every server I come across that does this. For example, the "FUN-GINEERS" server always ends payload maps before the timer reaches 0. We just lost on Blu, even though we had over 2 minutes left. I think I recall an admin on one of these servers say it was "tournament rules" or something, but maybe they were just joking? Or is this just a bug? It seems like it can't be a bug, considering how long its been going on for unfixed.
Maybe they're just being dicks.
Some servers are just dumb, alot of admins like their server to be super dee duper pro at the game and not need to complete the map to get done, you're better off just going on a server that doesn't have that. as it gets VERY annoying.
Maybe they're just being dicks.
It can't be that, because it happens repeatedly on specific servers (I usually check that it happens twice before I blacklist the server), and its happened when no mods were on. A natural push often comes around the 0:30 second mark, but that doesn't occur on these servers, because that time is never reached.
There are also servers that manually changes map instead of waiting for the game to do it. It prevents players from getting achievements where a round needs to be ended.
It's for servers that want to stay on a strict schedule, and don't want the next map cycle to be thrown off by stalemates.
No I mainly see it on PL maps. That's why I don't understand this becoming something so common. edit: Oh, you mean they set a time for CP that typically works, but it gets all screwed up by the amount of time that PL maps take. I guess that could be the case.

Actually, my buddy's server has been having some issues with the way our Payload maps work. It ends based on the amount of points the cart caps, but we can't figure out how to reset it. It might've changed since he recently re-installed the entire server, but I'm not sure. [editline]09:23PM[/editline] This isn't at all an intentional occurrence on our server, we all like payload to end when it's damned well supposed to.
I've been on a few servers like this recently, and every admin I've met on them say its a bug.
I don't think it's a bug or even necessarily intentional dickishness. If you look on the scoreboard there's a "Map Time Left:" thing with the remaining time. Usually when it hits 0:00 it adds, in parentheses, "Map Change on Round End", but I think there is a console command that forces the map to change when the timer hits 0:00. If it's not enabled for the purpose of keeping a strict map schedule, then the people running the server probably changed it without realizing what it did.
this is why I avoid on playing on anything but vanilla servers.
Join the big company servers Eg, Games.on.net, Game Arena Ect..... (I live in Australia so properly not those exact ones)
I don't think many ISPs outside australia host servers. We're lucky.
Oh shit really :smug: Awesome
