So I didn't want to necro my old thread so I made a new one. I have set my heapsize, optimized the game the best I could, adjusted my settings and the game still runs like shit. I have an eight-core 8gb processor with a nvidia 760 as my graphics card. Backpack,Menu, and Class menu stuttering and fps drops. Can anybody help?
I'd recommend posting this on the general thread.
Is ambient occlusion on for hl2.exe in nvidia control panel? Turn it off.
Sounds like a personal goal for you. Off to a great start
How is this a shitpost?
You didn't see it but it was a bannable post being snipped and it still is pretty much bannable.
Ah,thanks for clarifying.
It seems like a no hat mod helps at least with fps drops. I usually play with constant 132 fps but with recent updates, my fps drop to around 80-90. A no hat mod seemed to fix it. You can find a recent no hat mod here: http://teamfortress.tv/thread/16179/no-hats-mod The overall performance of TF2 became extremely SHITTY because they started to add in too much stuff like new gamemodes, items and whatever. The game wasn't developed for all this in the first place, causing instability and performance issues.

It seems like unless you have a really good high-end computer then you can't run tf2 without problems.
I have a 5-year-old mediocre prebuilt and I have never had any problems with TF2 (other than the Hatless/Manniversary Update -induced crashing)
Yeah. It seems like unless you have a really good high-end computer then you can't run tf2 without problems.
That would only help with fps problems. There are still a ton of bugs and glitches in the game which also cause performance problems. Also game crashes.
I have a 5-year-old mediocre prebuilt and I have never had any problems with TF2 (other than the Hatless/Manniversary Update -induced crashing)
See, that also shows that TF2 isn't even well optimized for some hardware parts or drivers but it is for others.
TF2 is currently a Frankenstein's Monster of a game and really you can't expect to be very reliable anymore. Sure with high-end equipment it can handle nicely, but something will eventually break or be incompatible. Unless the TF2 team is willing to dig into the smelly piles of code and fix it there's not much that can be done other than just using a low-graphics config. Your rig sounds great though (better than mine) so I have no idea what your problem could be. I'll be that guy and just say "lol reinstall"
Almost forgot about this: Add this folder to your antivirus exceptions: Steam\appcache\stats There's a file inside which keeps getting updated while playing and your antivirus software could cause performance issues because it wants to check all those updates. No idea if it still helps but you can sure try it.
