It's a very mixed feeling having participated in the very first tournament that gave people medals. On one hand I was in the first batch of in-game medals, but on the other hand they fucking suck compared to any of the later ones.

Is this related to the items not getting lit correctly or was there actually something wrong with the shadows cast on the environment?
Not in patchnotes, but they are working on animation importer as well. Some new additions were made for it. Trying to see what all works now.

Shadows wouldn't match up with the model. Fore example if you were in a high five pose as Soldier in the shadow you'd see the silhouette of his Launcher placed awkwardly in his hand. Likewise another case would be the shadow would have the wrong weapon, such as a guitar taunting Pyro's shadow holding his flamethrower instead of the proper axe.
