Or you could actually put some work into it and take an ingame screenshot and blur it, and have that as the background.

These are real wallpapers, not much going on, simple design, doesn't rape your eyes to shit with stupid filters and effects. And combine it with Windows 7's new wallpaper slideshow thing and you have a very nice theme.

It looks like you slapped two tf2 characters on top of a semi-decent wallpaper. It's god-awful.
Really, did you put even an iota of work into that? Let's go down the list of fail;
Beta Sniper(With beta lighting!), non-beta Scout.
Light sources for the renders are at opposite locations, and neither has lighting from the other sources, not even shittily made PhotoShop brightening.
The background is solid black with an overused 'explosion' of green, which looks like shit even for that overused effect.
Obvious clipping on the Scout render's dog tags, which would be easily excusable if the render was farther back and/or wasn't in the DEAD CENTER of the fucking image.
No attempt was made to make the shittastic background flow with the renders, it just looks like two character standing in front of a fucking green screen.
The 'S2,' while placed in a decent enough spot for a name, is a bright blue-white and draws your eyes away from the renders, which defeats the purpose of having them in there in the first place.
